2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I have no real problem with the list from a Buckeye perspective. I do not think Adams is the top 10 overall prospect scout.com has him rated - or is he not a top 100 kid like rivals suggests. Bottom 1/3 of the top 100 is about right. Posey's maybe a little low, but some of that likely has to do with his lack of hype...until recently. I think Sweat is a solid prospect but he's a bit high on the espn list IMO.

I'm not trying to give you any kind of flack for this, just asking for you to expand on this a bit.

You think Mike Adams belongs in the 66-100 range in the nation? Why?

First, I'm not any kind of expert, lets just get that out of the way now.

From watching his film compared to other OL prospects and in reading what the services have said about Adams (both the national guys and the Ohio local experts), it seems to me that putting Adams in that bottom 1/3 of the national top 100 seems fine. Others out there do have better film than Adams...though Rivals has gone way too far in keeping him out of their top 100 because of that.

At this point in time, I see Adams as one of the top 10 OL in the country - but not the overall best OL recruit out there as a top 10 overall ranking may suggest.

No service has him as the best OL recruit. Scout, who has him at #10 has another offensive lineman above him.

Don't get me wrong, you seem to have done your research. I was just wondering. Appreciate the response.

don't know if that link worked for you or not...but it appears to be legit. Weird they didn't do some big announcement on their recruiting page though.
The list has been out for a while. It constantly changes when they add newly evaluated players. It's not one set list they change every few months like rivals and scout.

Nice to see Posey and Torrence so high...

Also some other guys of note:

34. Steven Filer
35. Lamaar Thomas
38. Branden Beal
50. Brandom Beachum
52. Michael Flyod
53. Brandon Moore
60. Jeff Fuller
71. Kenny Tate
76. Etienne Sabino
77. Greg Shaw
83. Jon Major
90. EJ Woods
94. Cordale Scott

So after looking at this they would have the Ohio state rankings as:

1. Kyle Rudolph
2. DeVoe Torrence
3. DeVier Posey
4. Brandon Beachum
5. Brandon Moore
6. Jake Stoneburner
7. Cordale Scott
8. Mike Adams

I guess it is great to see Ohio getting some love with a high number like 8, which I am sure it will fall by the time the final rankings come out, but whatever the reason for having Mike Adams as the #8 player in the state is just nuts...

I mean I bet you that the Coffman coaches, the Coffman players, would tell you that Adams is a better prospect than Stoney, Then you have 2 guys in Moore and Beachum that don't have offers from the instate school...

I would put Adams ahead of Rudolph, move Rudolph and Torrence put Stoney at #4, Scott at #5...

Then probably put Moore and Beachum in there, but I might have Koger ahead of both of them...

I also think that overall it says something when there are guys like Shaw, Woods, Beachum, Moore that don't have offers, but they are so highly sought after, I understand that we don't have a ton of schollies this year, but it speaks volumes about the guys that we are bringing in...

Hopefully with in a week or two I will have a list of my top 50-100 players...

Here's my top 10 for the state:

1. Posey-great athlete. Has the potential to make an immediate impact more than anyone else.
2. Adams-excellent frame and athleticism. Could probably need a year to develop quicker feet and more power.
3. Torrence-excellent blend of size, speed and power. Has the potential to be an excellent back, but has to prove his durability and production. Also a very good LBer.
4. Rudolph
5. Stoneburner-unique athlete that poses matchup problems.
6. Koger-offerred before Moore
7. Zordich-offered before Beachum.
8. McCarthy-good all around player. Championship defenses need safeties like this.
9. Scott-ton of potential.
10. Nathan Williams-nasty LB/DE.

Beachum is a nice prospect, but I don't think he has the skill set to be a big time RB. He may become a great LBer, but he is a little undersized there.
Moore and Sanders-not in OSU's plans.
Mealer-Tressel told him in the interview that they want him in Columbus. Picked the wrong year to be an OL in Ohio though.
Adams, Woods, Pead-nice athletes. Have a chance to prove that they are OSU caliber at camp.

IMO, the difference in talent between Rudolph, Torrence, Posey, and Adams is so small they could all be 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d.

Furthermore, I'd put any of these guys at #1 overall in the state last year in combination with Clifford.

IMO it is very telling that osu, mich, and nd have all opted to not offer beachum. how many top 50 prospects have zero offers from the powerhouses of their region?

IMO Beachum is a nice player, definate top 250 material, but #50 is a bit absurd. I would still think that is osu offers him after camp.

I think Thomas, Moore, and Beachum are all too high and Adams is way too low. I also think Floyd is way too low as well...I honestly think he is a 5 star. Tate I think would be higher if he hit the combine circuit. Shugarts seems awfully low as well for having offers from practically every school in the country. Not to mention he is from one of Rivals favorite states...but he didn't stay south, hence the low rating. I think Shugarts and Good are pretty much 1a and 1b in the state of Texas and Good was a 5 star. I also think there is now way Nix and Love are better than either of Adams or Shugarts. It is good to see Torrence and Posey high though.
