Because Phil Steele factors in the schedule for his rankings. According to Phil, Georgia has the third toughest schedule in the country. His rankings are basically where he thinks teams will be at the end of the season.

I can't remember the last time Phil Steele ranked us in the top 5. Did he in '03? I know he didn't in '02, '04, '05, '06, or '07.

Clemson at #5? Their o-line makes our '04 one look good not to mention the fact that Clemson is still coached by baby Bowden so you can chalk up 3 losses.

Damn, that entire top 10 is out of whack. USF at #8. Did he see that great defense get their pants pulled down by an Oregon team without Dennis Dixon?

PSU? Everyone on that team is either injured or in legal trouble and last I checked, they have the Paterno's still coaching.

Lets look at State Penn.

Defense will be better without Justin King and Shawn Lee and Connor?
That secondary will still be a weakness.

Better on offense?
New QB. New starters on O line. Quarles(TE) in trouble. Jay Pa calling a lot of possession passes. Lots of QB runs? Spread HD option football?
Have to play at OSU...at night?

Unless he thinks that Darryl Clark is going to morph into another Michael Robinson, I'm at a loss...I see them as an 8-4 team.

Haha, I doubt there is anything that you could say that would hurt my feelings. I just find it hilarious that someone like yourself basically says his top 10 is terrible when he spends all year studying this stuff and has a track record of doing pretty well at it.

His rankings are usually pretty bad, IMO. But, he provides a lot of info and that's what I love about the magazine.

Sports message boards are about stating one's opinion. He stated his. I think Steele's Top-10 is garbage too for the most part. Clemson? :lol: PSU? :slappy:
