2008 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Weekly update from Gene Menez at SI.

I agree with his opinions that Crabtree should be a finalist, and that the top-3 Big 12 QBs have a sizable lead over Tebow. But I think Harrell is the clear front-runer right now, and it TTech wins the Big 12 Championship Game as an undefeated team, he should win in a landslide.

si.com

1. Graham Harrell
2. Colt McCoy
3. Sam Bradford
4. Michael Crabtree
5. Shonn Greene
6. Tim Tebow
7. Kendall Hunter
8. Jacquizz Rodgers
9. Chase Daniel
10. LeSean McCoy

Brock Huard:! who did the color analysis on the Ball State/Miami game said that he had Bradford and McCloy ahead of Harrell. He did not even mention Crabtree. I would think that Crabtree should be replaced by a lesser WR and Harrell would still put up pretty good numbers. I really don't see anybody else but him.

Harrell is the clear front-runner in this survey.

Unless Bradford is superhuman tonight, Timmah just won his second Heisman...and deservedly so.

Wrong. If he wins the Heisman again, it's only because he was left in games late (like last year) to roll up stats. If he was so fucking good, why did he lose at home to a shit Mississippi team? At least Bradford lost to a great Texas team at a neutral site and McCoy lost on the road to an explosive Texas Tech team.

Bradford, McCoy, and Harrell have been steady all year long. Bradford has 20 more passing TDs, a markedly better completion percentage, more yards per attempt, and a passing rating almost nine points higher.

Don't get me wrong...Tebow is an outstanding player. But, I just get tired of the fucking non-stop media fellatio-fest.

How many points are b12 defenses worth?

How often has Bradford even been tested this year? I don't mean asked to put up monster numbers, I mean rattled, pressured, facing adversity. Life is extremely cushy for Bradford, sitting back there for 4-6 seconds, dumping off a dozen passes in the flats to matchup nightmares, throwing into woeful coverage units.

Bradford would be dead last on my heisman ballot. I would invite a half-dozen other players before him.

Colt has had to improvise and relocate frequently enough and showed a lot more toughness and moxy, imo. Harrell is working with inferior parts to the other 4, but his OU outing ended his chances. Good enough for an invite, but no serious consideration.

Absolutely. Danielson went from the best announcer in CFB to the least credible.

But despite the lovefest, he's still a heisman caliber player.

Then, the cameras follow Tebow around on the sidelines whilst the Bible-thumping molester of Filipino children makes a [censored]ing spectacle of himself..."Look at me trying to fire up the team that really shouldn't need any firing up!"

Wow...So much hate for a leader, being a leader. He is not one of those emotionless big eyed deer in a headlights types I have seen here and there during big games....

If it was a Buckeye doing the same thing as Tebow we would be be talking about what a great leader he was.

Who you got?

I still think it's between Bradford and McCoy, but Tebow got an awful lotta love yesterday.

I think Harrell might get a trip to NY, but finish a distant 4th.

Agreed on most points, except for a few

1) Agreed on the B12 defenses.. But what defenses has Tebow played? Better than the B12's, but... Georgia's? LSU's? Florida State's is probably the best they've played, but you have to assume FSU's defensive stats have been inflated, playing against ACC offenses.

2) Danielson went from the best announcer in CFB to the least credible? Honest question: How much have you watched him? I've watched him for a few Georgia games and he drools over Stafford at least as much as he drooled over Tebow tonight. I was literally surprise that he was all over Tebow; I was convinced that no QB could get close to matching Stafford's overall amaznigness at being utterly amazing, O amazing QB of amazing... Danielson has been the least credible for a long, long time
