Maybe she can hook up with Jim Gray. Can't stand that guy and his idiotic questions "how does it feel to fail at a once in a lifetime opp.?" :smash:
So true.

Also, Georgia is playing Russia in women's beach volleyball. Nice to see with the violence that these 4 ladies can trot out there and compete in skimpy beach outfits.

I love beach volleyball.

My favorite Jim Gray question was after Dan Jansen fell (for like the 8th time) and he ran right up to him and immediately asked "So, Dan, what happened? Was the ice slippery out there?" :slappy:

As for Alicia, I feel bad for her, but even Gerald Ford didn't fall that much. Dropping off the beam is one thing, but there was really no excuse for falling on the floor exercise...in fact, I can't recall off the top of my head anyone ever doing that from a major team before. Oh well, a silver is still quality, as we don't have that many historical team medals. Still, her saying it's "kind of my fault" doesn't seem quite strong enough...everyone else came through, including the 2 girls who had only one routine, which I was happy to see.

I was watching an interview with the previous US gymnastics coach, and he was saying that almost every country uses underage girls for their gymnastics programs. I don't know what the advantage is to having a 12-14 year old as opposed to a 16-18 year old would be, but apparently it's not that uncommon for countries to forge documents for younger gymnasts.

Deng Linlin - 4'6", 68-pounds

Jiang Yuyuan - 4'7" and 70 pounds

By comparison, Ali (my ten year old) is 4'5" - 63 pounds. She is in the bottom 25th percentile in weight and height nationally.

And these two girls are supposedly 16? Right..

Also heard that these two girls competes last year in national events and their ages were listed as 12 and 13. Now a year later, they are 16?

Not really sure how I feel about it. Are they cheating...yes. But, I think it is a stupid rule for an event that only happens every 4 years. The prime for a gymnest is maybe 14-16? With that small a window they should lower the age requirement to 12-13. That way the girls that are 15 in an Olympic year don't have to wait till their 19 and at a HUGE dissadvantage because their bodies have changed.

But still, they are cheating and should not have won the gold. Them's the rules.

They had a great indoor volleyball match on this morning. China had 7 match points in the 4th game, but Brazil won them all, and then won the match in Game 5. Both teams should advance out of that pool, though.

Even nicer that Georgia came from behind after getting stomped the first game to beat the Russians, 2 games to 1. :)

Bella's whining is embarrassing. There is a process for determining age. By all accounts that process was followed. If you have a gripe pursue it - behind the scenes. We lost. Your only public comment is "nice game".

I was reading elsewhere that she kept referring to the Chinese gymnasts as "little babies" in front of her own team. I don't know how old the Chinese gymnasts are, but it wouldn't take much for them to be more mature than Bella.

Obviously you have never been to Bangkok.

FYI, Bela is a man (he's 40!)
