Virginia QB Lalich won't travel with team due to legal issues

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Virginia quarterback Peter Lalich won't accompany the Cavaliers to Connecticut for Saturday's game, coach Al Groh said Wednesday night, so that he can concentrate on legal problems and not be a distraction to the team.

Lalich, who has started the first two games, is due in Charlottesville General District Court on Sept. 26 for a hearing. The 20-year-old was arrested on an underage drinking charge July 13 and was given a deferred judgment provided he completes supervised probation.

The sophomore said in a release distributed by the school that he does not want his troubles to be a distraction to the Cavaliers (1-1).

Contd....

CavsCorner.com - Starting QB Lalich dismissed by Virginia

There is much we don't know about this, but what we do know for a fact is this: It wasn't Al Groh's decision. AD Littlepage claims responsibility, but that isn't really believed by all of the UVA faithful.

So aside from the fact that our starting quarterback is gonzo (and very unfairly, in my book) what I see is a lack of confidence in Al Groh. Groh had done everything in his power to minimize the impact on Lalich - in fact, he publicly stated, right before the UConn suspension (and it was a suspension even if they didn't call it that) that Lalich had satisfied Groh's requirements and would continue to play. Now the administration has undermined Groh in a big way. This is the sort of thing that precedes a firing - maybe even a midseason one.

Miami was down 28-24 with the ball on the NC 20 with 10 seconds left. Marve rifles it into the end zone and the Miami receiver got a hand on it. As he's trying to bring it in, the N. Carolina DB reaches over the shoulder of the falling Miami player and grabs the ball for a pick in the end zone.

The look of the Miami fans in the stands afterwards was priceless.

That's 4 straight losses in conference home games.

Duke-31
UVA-3

I knew people would really overrate USC's win over UVA. Doesn't matter now because they proved themselves by whipping us but it still irritates me that the clowns at ESPiN just saw a beatdown of a team that went 9-4 the previous year.

Wake Forest 17

Another bad loss for the ACC.

FSU did beat Colorado, but the league has no flag carrier this year.
And yet....UVA is still looking at 0-8 in the conference.

:(

:sad2:

Unbelievable.

At halftime of today's game somebody at TheSabre said "3-3 with Duke at halftime is rock bottom!!!!!!" That was before Duke hung 4 unanswered touchdowns on us. Duke.

Duke.

Groh's time is short.

THAT is hard to say now...:(

I didn't have a chance to see the game..just highlights.

I just can't believe some of the games they lose. There offense, with Tebow, should be unstoppable....but 3 turnovers?

And with as many great athletes as they have on the D, it surprises me they continue to struggle this much.

ESPN - Clemson's Spiller out with hamstring pull; Harper to have shoulder surgery - College Football
Clemson running back C.J. Spiller will miss Saturday's game against Georgia Tech because of a pulled hamstring, and quarterback Cullen Harper will have surgery on his non-throwing shoulder but will be available to play Saturday, a school spokesman said Thursday.

Spiller, who has averaged 28.3 yards per kickoff return, injured his hamstring after two carries against Wake Forest. He is averaging 6.5 yards a carry and is the team's second leading rusher with 314 yards and five touchdowns.

Harper suffered a shoulder fracture against N.C. State and plans to have surgery sometime after Saturday's game. He will miss an estimated two to four weeks following the surgery.

Harper was Clemson's starting quarterback before being benched last week in favor of Willy Korn. Harper was complaining of shoulder pain in his throwing shoulder after the Tigers' season-opening loss to Alabama. He is expected to have an MRI on that shoulder next week.

Coach Dabo Swinney and Harper are expected to address the injury after practice Thursday.

And just to add for Viking, maybe Berry wasn't offered by Miami, but with getting Brown and Miller I think they're already straight at RB. Besides he was offered by scUM, LSU, Florida, BC, Ole Miss and FSU, not getting an offer from the "U" is probably a good thing these days, when you have better teams after you. I would think that the people down in FL would be a little mad since another one got away from them and came up north. A lot of people are still heated they lost Sabino last year, and now Berry and Hyde this year. Back to Boom.
