:lol: Well yes, that's been established... but I doubt you're interested in pidgeon-holing a staff based on year 1, are you? Their play & resolve was appreciably different (regardless of how many times UM fans try to paint them as 'same ole sparty'), with the same horrendous talent. If someone can get some talent to East Lansing, like say Caper, Baker, Norman, etc... we'll see how that translates.

Yep, never mind a new coach, installing a new program and starting to take some local talent away. Past performance dictates future results right?

I've said it many times on here, you better pray your program doesn't take Dantonio as lightly as you do.

"Look at your feet, picture them in five years when we're in the Rose Bowl". Did I miss when Sparty scheduled UCLA?

Sorry I can't take super duper awesome coach Mark Dantonio seriously when he's got a ten point lead at home and squanders it away with just about four minutes left. Call me when Sparty beats us more than once every 2,781 on a bullshit call, mmk? Until then there's no purpose discussing that piece of flaming shit school.

Just because the guy was a DC on your 2002 squad, everyone is jumping up and down saying how awesome he is. Must have been real hard coaching all that talent that was handed to him. Charlie Weis was a good OC in New England, looks like that's done a lot for him recently. Let me know when the guy has shown he can consistently coach in this conference. Until then, it's SOS. Hot start against a OOC schedule that would make Penn State jealous, then once they play a non-retarded team they falter. Sorry if I'm not drinking the 7-6 koolaid.

I see. So UM needs miraculous 4th-qtr comebacks twice in 4 years, but it's a foregone conclusion moving forward.

There was a decided difference in toughness, attitude, resolve & aggression from Sparty. But keep telling yourself they are the JohnL squads that fell apart in full meltdown mode.

Like I said before, you really wish to establish this measuring stick on the verge of your own transition season?

UM has 3 times the talent of Dantonio, and an easier schedule than MSU faced this year. We better see 9 wins, or have no reason to be impressed with Rodriguez.

What Sparty team were you watching?

Looked like the same team committing stupid penalties to blow the UM and the bowl game to me. Now, that doesn't mean Dantonio can't change this, but the fact remains, the '07 MSU team was very similar to the '06 MSU team... which was similar to the '05 MSU team... which was... etc. etc. etc.

You're better than that, winslow. Lock it up.

1. Yes, it is a foregone conclusion. I'm sorry, but as rigoddamndiculously good as Braylon was his senior year, you'd think maybe eventually they would have figured out Henne was only going to throw to him. I know, crazy thought, but since the guy ended up with 97 catches on the year, you'd think maybe he'd draw some attention. Guess Sparty's lockdown corners had the flu or something. Pretty much the same goes for this year, just switch Manningham for Edwards even though Manningham isn't half the WR Braylon is/was.

2. Yeah, MSU had so much aggression, toughness etc.. they showed it by uh...wait....let's see. Dumbass personal foul? Check. Same stout 4th quarter defense? Check. Cough up 10+ point lead in the 4th quarter? Check, check and check.

3. You're right. Except Michigan won't be returning nearly what Sparty was.

Also, since Buckeye fans were/are quick to point out Weis' ineptitude at ND and RR's future/inevitable struggles at UM, can they point that high-powered microscope, for a moment, at one of their previous own?


Just because he coached for Tressel (a great coach) doesn't necessarily make Dantonio a great coach.




In his defense though, he does have an uphill battle. He's got to completely change the culture/attitude of the team. A culture where MSU is MSU's worst enemy. That's no small task. Therefore it really won't be far to judge him until about his 3rd season where he should have had the time to recruit better players and coached them up accordingly.
