WVU was mentioned wrt Trotwood QB Dominick Britt, but he may end up at Pitt (who became UM's nemesis in recruiting, much like ND).

I was going to mention Britt as well - but honestly, this is a sea change if it plays out anything close to any of those three plan "B" scenarios, and Mallett departs.

Quarterbacks on the roster next year, assuming Mallett boogies, are as follows...

Steven Threet
David Cone
Nick Sheridan

Obviously all of the above are old-system quarterbacks. Threet is the Georgia Tech transfer, and Cone and Sheridan have not seen game action save a couple token handoffs against Notre Dame. They didn't fumble, which is nice. Cone appears to be marvelously useful as a clipboard stand. None of these will strike fear into Jim Tressel, nor even, I suspect, Tim Brewster.

However, RR did not get where he is today by being stupid, or by sitting back and going "damn, no recruits." I suspect there will be a few recruits that didn't hear from Carr but will get a phone call or two from RR's gang. Obviously Pryor is a candidate. The aforementioned MarQueis Gray would indeed be a natural choice. Some other names would be Kody Spano, Domonick Britt, or Tommy Reamon. Oh hey - guess what school was recruiting Britt before he committed to (and then backed out on) Cincy? So there's a bit of a prior relationship there.

I would be willing to bet copious amounts of money that one of those names - Pryor, Gray, Spano, Britt, or Reamon - will be on the back of a maize-and-blue uniform next year. Any one of them would be more likely to start than the current corps of candidates.

I say we just get Pryor and call it a day!

Which would you prefer?

Choice A: Miles, Mallett, most of the staff, possibly retaining AA
Choice B: RRod, brand new QB, staff & wrs (besides #13)

Personally I think choice A would do better in 08, but B might have some long-term potential.

If, and it's a big if imo, they all 3 leave then scum could be in real trouble.

Gee, brilliant observation, Grandpa Oblivious.

Here's hoping the DickRod turns into another Chalmers "Bump" Elliott, who went 4-5, 5-4, 6-3, 2-7, 3-4-2, 9-1, 4-6, 6-4, and 4-6 in his first nine years.

Well, I want to stay out of the Pryor to Michigan conversations, but really, with the coaching transition, the potential talent you have and two rival schools both trying to get you, if you are T.P., what would you do? I can tell you what I would do, jump ship and go to Oregon.

That thought scares me, but you have serious questions at Michigan, but if you go to tOSU you are suddenly a target for the defense, if he goes to Oregon...

My thoughts, enough Pryor talk, let's hope, for the sake of the conference, that Michigan isn't completely fucked for the next 5 years.

Done!

No doubt Pryor is Plan A. As well as Plans B, C, and D. But you know - Gray is a pretty good-looking option too. And his current schools are ones like Minnesota, Indiana, MSU - in other words, ones where he's got a damn good shot at starting right away. If that's a priority for him, and suddenly Michigan comes calling....I like our chances. If we can't get Pryor, having Gray instead would go a long way toward making up for that disappointment.
