Cass Tech's Cissoko rethinks going to U-M

December 21, 2007

By MARK SNYDER

The first commitment of this current class came on last year's signing day when Detroit Cass Tech cornerback Boubacar Cissoko pledged to come to Michigan.

After Thursday's mass firings of the U-M staff, Cissoko cut the cord, saying today he's no longer a Michigan commitment.

?I'm looking at Penn State and am going to visit after the bowl game,? Cissoko said. ?I'll go back this week and look at some more schools I want to go you. Yeah, they have" contacted me.

Any chance he'll return to Michigan?

?I don't know right now,? said Cissoko, who found out about the firings from U-M defensive coordinator Ron English. ?All the coaches got fired. I don't know nobody on the new staff. I have no connection with them.?

cont'd...

Yeah things aren't exactly going merrily over here..But I did read on Rivals or read a summary moreso that Cissoko is back to being committed to UM

I wouldn't really stress it that much, I see how it can be concerning right now, but if someone can't recruit at Michigan they have something seriously wrong with them. The worst you are looking at is a bad year of recruiting and next year going back to "We're the winningest program of all time, come to our school, Tom Brady did."

More than any other concern about recruiting would most likely be in the long run, if tsun runs the spread-option it will take away a lot of the quarterback appeal that you guys have, option qb's don't really work in the NFL because the linemen hit them really hard and end their seasons early, if you are a running qb.... well, just look at how many full seasons Vick as had or how many people hit Young like he's a running back...

I'm just more concerned about DB recruitment. We have a pressing need for them and to me, Cissoko is the most important recruit in the class because he is a top notch DB. Especially if you're going to run a 3-3-5, you need loads of DBs.

I'm not that concerned about overall recruitment though, even though DT Mike Martin is said to be looking at ND and there's mutual interest. Makes me think Omar Hunter is off to Florida.

College football: Rodriguez brings back Michigan assistant

Saturday, December 22, 2007 5:10 AM

A day after putting his mark on the Michigan program by firing each of Lloyd Carr's assistants, new Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez brought back Fred Jackson as running backs coach.

School spokesman David Ablauf said, "Rich spoke with everyone individually (Thursday) night and did not want to hold them up in exploring other options" while helping the Wolverines prepare to play against Florida in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1.
"He has rehired Fred Jackson as an offensive coach."
All the assistants were given two-year deals in March that will pay them through Feb. 28, 2009. Their firings are effective after the Capital One Bowl against Florida on Jan. 1.

OSUBJ is just like some all-knowing god...doesn't say much and then you wake up in the morning and BAM! 46 fucking articles on every subject..It's a beautiful thing

Not sure he is like a god, but he does seem to be blessed by god by having a 30 hour day unlike us mere mortals

Hang in there Sniper, UM will always recruit well. It will be interesting seeing how long it will take to get RR's guys in place for his O and D systems.
