Lloyd did very little recruiting this year, in part to prepare for his potential departure. Most kids bonded with the assistants. The question is what happens to Lloyd's assistants under a new regime.

He took care of them with a guaranteed extra year, but that may be simply a swell severance package for many.
The biggest concern has to be OT, imo. Schilling is an interior guy playing out of position (at RT), and LT has no easy answers. Their recruiting class is primarily made up of interior OL.
That really could be the elephant in the corner.

Concerning goblue's post with the Rivals' info - how many of those kids are under the mistaken apprehension that those assistants have a half-life in AA over 2 weeks, let alone 24 months?

Whomsoever comes in will in all likelihood clean house and want his own AC staff.

Think Miles wants English hanging around?

Think Rodriguez even wants to sit though one meeting with DeBord chiming in?

Think again.

And, honestly, you can go down the list of the possible to implausible candidates to fill Carr's shoes and the same answer pops up.

Those contracts are no guarantee of permanence, thus the attachment to an assistant coach means less than anyone in AA optimistically imagine.

Changing a coach is always a dangerous time in the recruiting game. Particularly these days.

The mental image of this just made me die of laughter hahahahaha....

"So Rich, I think our trick play should be the two TE crossing each other, that'll really confuse them"

"Um, Mike? Kill yourself. I was thinking of something like a Shotgun Read, you know, give the QB some options"

"Why would we do that when we can dink it 4 yards?"

The UM recruiting machine is hardly losing steam after Lloyd's announcement.

Come on down, long snapper George Morales!

Yes, a full ride.
No, not a top-25 ranked snapper.

You guys are so fucking screwed right now with Morales as our LS. He snaps that bitch so nicely, it's scary. If I were a Buckeye fan, I'd be very. very scared of this guy:biggrin:

What a fuckin waste of a schollie

Hey... he could be the next Ryan Pontbriand.

Oh... wait... you guys are recruting the way the Butch Davis drafts, now.

Ouch.

I think your coaches see the amount of punts and FG attempts in their future and are preparing accordingly. If they sign two punters to share the workload its time to get nervous.

Michael Arace commentary: Ideals that Michigan holds dear are at risk

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A "Michigan man" doesn't have to be a Michigan man.
Fielding Yost coached at Ohio Wesleyan, Nebraska, Kansas and Stanford before he landed in Ann Arbor in 1901. Yost, the man who built the Big House, was from West Virginia. Fritz Crisler was from Earlville, Ill. Bo Schembechler was from Barberton.
Those three coaches account for about half a century of Michigan football and they were a combined 430-93-18. Beyond their records, they were Michigan men, through and through, as current athletic director Bill Martin has been pointing out of late.
Martin is sifting through 20-some candidates in his search for a coach and his task might be impossible. Oh, he'll come up with another coach. The question is: What will be sacrificed in the process?

Apparently, Fred Jackson's agent has released word that Duke is considering the Michigan assistant as a head coaching candidate.
Nov. 28, 2007, Freep: Michigan assistant head football coach and running backs coach Fred Jackson is a candidate for the open Duke head coaching position, his agent Jim Acho said in a Tuesday press release. "A call was placed to Duke AD Joe Alleva today and we await confirmation of an interview date," the release stated.
Losing Jackson could cost UM their star RB verbal Sam McGuffie.
