We should have, but we didn't.

What the hell? No, you shouldn't have. Look, the mark of a good team is how well they deal with adversity, you shouldn't have lost any of those games because tsun, for all the crap they have got this year, is a good team. They came back and won, and nothing can diminish those victories, sure your opponents may say "we had that but we gave it away" but the reality is you took it away.

There's no reason for scum to say we should have lost that game, considering how many late comebacks they have had I would assume they realize how the game is played. Football is a 60 minute game, not a 50, not a 40, but a 60 minute game. And when the game ends, the team who "Should have won" will be shown on the scoreboard.

I guess that says all we need to know about how much of a chance HtM is giving Illinois to pull the upset.
I did a faceplant falling off the Illini bandwagon about three or so weeks ago. Decent team, major flaws.

I do figure that Michigan could beat Wisconsin and then lose to an OSU team that just lost to Illinois, thus sharing the title, but that's no title in my book. No Rose Bowl and no win over OSU is no Big Ten championship.

Michigan has never won an undisputed NC in their history. I know they like to claim Bullshit titles from 1901-1904 which was awarded by the AA sports history society, billingsly, and the Harvard Historical atletic club(or whatever those guys call themselves these days.

Michigans tradition is frontloaded. When it comes to "Recognized NC" they don't have shit...two shared titles since 48...thats fucking pathetic for a school thats thinks they have the best tradition.

Actually, Michigan does have an AP title for 1948, which is just a valid as our 1942 AP title. Both of those are "consensus" by default since the UPI poll didn't come into existence until 1950. Now, if they want to count the bullshit retroactive titles from 1901-1904, then fuck 'em, let 'em. Then Princeton can count their 24 national titles and Harvard their 19 national titles from back when only four or five fucking colleges even had teams.

This is correct. I personally don't give a flying fuck what happens right now as long as we beat OSU.

After today's results:
  • Michigan will be playing for nothing less than when they woke up this morning. And 3 of their best seniors have 4 years of pent up frustration pointed directly at that goal.
  • Ohio State is playing for much less than when they woke up this morning.
IMHO Michigan has a huge "intangible" edge in this game. After what we saw today, we have to objectively admit that they have a very good shot to put it mildly.

Sure looked like a LOT of dissention out there, especially Mario. Better hope Henne doesn't have to miss a series (considering he's been iffy almost all year).

Yes, they certainly have their own issues to overcome.

Who knows. This one has about the opposite feel of last year's Game.

I think that the Buckeyes have one thing that is a positive intangible - the absolute need to redeem a disturbing loss. Always the most dangerous of motivators of course. Post a loss, do you let it motivate you to prove your best was really the norm for the season. Or, does it make you over-reach?

The former enhances the chances for a win, the latter - not so much.

I've seen that a lot this year from tsun. usually centers around Mallet but its everyone when you watch. I don't think they are a very close team.

That said I kind of agree with DBB. It would not suprise me to see a flat as house paint OSU team go up there and lose. It would also not suprise me to see them bounce back and come out swinging but I think its going to take one hell of a sales job from Tress.

The other big point for this game is Henne and Hart. My contention is that if you start Henne vs UW then you are trying to win and it means Hart just isn't physically able to perform. Also, Hennes early departure wasn't planned, his shoulder got worse.

I don't see either of them getting magically back to 100% in a week no matter if they start or not. I also don't see how tsun could beat us with Mallet at QB for the majority of the game, emotional letdown from OSU or no.

If Michigan has to use Mallett all game, we are so fucked it's not even funny. Mallett, while I think he will develop into an excellent QB, makes at least 5-7 WHAT THE FUCK throws every game. He's so goddamned inconsistent it's absurd. I don't mind it that much since he's a freshman and he will learn, but man, some of those throws are brutal. That pick off his back foot yesterday was brutal. He also stares down his targets too much.

But goddamn, what an arm on that kid. If he gets some accuracy, that'd be unreal.

The sheer stupidity of our playcalling is unreal though. Arrington was covered by UW's #3 corner, yet we never threw to him, save the TD in the corner that has to rank as one of the best catches of the year. Manningham will probably get a few catches against Malcolm Jenkins, but it's not advisable to test Jenkins too often, so I think we need to hit up Arrington early and often. Greg Mathews sucks, so he won't do much, but I think the key to this game is Arrington and obviously the health of Hart and Henne on offense, and perhaps finding a functional defense for the other side of the ball, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Over/under on the amount of dumb Crable penalties is at 2.5 right now. I should make this a vbet

OZone's Michigan Monday classic as always
I bet when Troy Smith finally finished his eligibility last year, Michigan fans breathed the breath of sweet relief. Little did they know that Troy Smith came back to the Big Ten disguised as Tyler Donovan.
Donovan danced around Michigan like they were a flattened refrigerator box and he electrically boogalooed his way down the field at will, en route to a 37-21 Badger win.
Michigan quarterback Chad Henne only played the first two series of the game, leaving the rest of the game to the brazenly oblivious Ryan Mallett. Mallett performed about as well as you could expect an insane freshman to perform.
Crable is your quintessential all-or-less than nothing player. What he gives you throughout an entire game can all be negated by one play, and often is.
Beckum was open for the entire first half. The Wolverines put as many different defenders on him as they could. He really only had one big play lined up as a tight end, however, and that was on a play-action throwback that went for a ten-yard touchdown pass. Most of Beckum’s big plays came when he was lined up wide or in the slot, or during a scramble.
There were times when Crable and weakside linebacker Chris Graham got matched up on Beckum or Hubbard. If the Buckeyes can somehow work this into their offense, big things will happen.
But that’s not to say only the linebackers had coverage issues, because Hubbard completely destroyed both Morgan Trent and Donovan Warren all game long. I have been saying that both corners have played pretty well this season, but that there were definitely plays to be made by an offense, and on Saturday, Paul Hubbard rang that bell loud and true. If Todd Boeckman can get time, there will be openings far and wide.

I really don't know why anyone's concerned about Mallett. Henne will play until his arm falls off, and then he'll probably try and convince Carr to let him throw lefty. It might be true that the season will be a waste if he loses to OSU, but it will definitely be true if he doesn't even play. He'll play, and he won't be taken out at the drop of a hat like against Wisconsin. The MSU game proved he can make the throws both hurt and under pressure. I'll be very surprised if Mallett sniffs the field at all on Saturday.
