Jenkins, Russell, Chekwa, and Washington were all 2-3 star guys with little to no other bigtime offers.

Lets not exagerate...Rusell did have another offer from Duke, and I believe Washington was offered by both Indiana and Illinois....:wink2:

I think Jenkins was offered by VT which is a good offer, but the other guys were way under the radar, esp. Russell

ESPN - Carr says Michigan football starting from scratch - College Football

Indianapolis Colts defensive back Marlin Jackson, a former Michigan standout, said he was embarrassed by the result.
"We lost to a I-AA program, and we were a top-five team," he said. "To go out and be the first team in history to lose to a I-AA team, it hurts."
Jackson said the loss has been an almost nonstop topic of conversation for him.
"That's all I've been getting the last couple of days. Every text message I get just says 'Appalachian State.' That's all it says," he said.
"The Ohio State guys have been all right. It's everybody else around here. Even coach [Tony] Dungy said something to me about it."

for Michigan on Saturday.

That is one of the most remarkable numbers I have ever seen.

As the author pointed out, it speaks volumes about the differnce in the 2 programs right now.

What I didn't see him say is how it affects next year already. They will be in complete rebuild mode with guys that aren't getting any PT this year.

We saw what happened to us in 2004 in very similar circumstances.

Henne, Hart, Arrington, Long and Kraus are all Seniors. Add Maningham and that is at least 6 of the 16.

Imagine how disappointed we would have been if JT had not gotten his second string QB a single rep Saturday - never mind third string.

Yep.

Mallet and company are going to be as green as they can be when they come to the Shoe for the fist time in '08.

Best assesment of what ills tsun that I have read to date. Not just this loss but sums up the longer trem trend.

Morgan Trent also had an interception on a poor throw, as Appalachian State quarterback Armanti Edwards threw a pass about four yards behind his receiver (which is the perfect spot for a Morgan Trent interception.)
:slappy:

Michigan played 16 total players on offense, and only played six different players on the D-Line, one of them being Crable, a LB.

Wow. This team is in trouble, and not just this year, but for the next two, at least.

Michael Hart not a leader? really? is anybody surprised? Look at the way he talks in press conferences. Prissy is the first word to come to mind. Heck, he had a smile in the post game presser after the ASU defeat.

If they lose a lot I figure MM is gone... He may be gone anyway.
