Fine, take it for whatever you want. So he thinks Michigan's going to win this year. Big deal. He's not the only one.
Believing you'll win is one thing.
Guaranteeing it is another.
And yet there's another level: talking like the game you just lost was a fluke, guaranteeing a victory in that scenario, and ripping the defense.

Had that just been a post-loss vent, that would be one thing. But he's confirmed mindset on multiple occasions since.

Third time now....he's talked trash throughout his career, its not as simple a statement as your trying to spin it to be.

Think David Boston wearing urine and blue.
Exactly. Many OSU fans enjoyed him running backwards into the endzone, but I can't imagine defending him for it.

He comes off as angry and bitter in the best of times and a whiney little crybaby behaving as if she just skinned her knee in the worst of times. The David Boston comparison is spot-on. Boston was a helluva football player, as is hart, but a complete jackass.

His "obsession" with beating tOSU will come back to bite him in the ass in the end. When you develop tunnel vision towards one goal, other tasks tend to fall by the wayside which is why ttun will drop at least one game before the Buckeyes arrive in ann arbor.

'We definitely would have beaten the Buckeyes,'' Hart said. ''Florida was a great team. I don't know what would've happened. We couldn't even beat USC (in the Rose Bowl). But there's no doubt in my mind we would've beat the Buckeyes.''

Not sure about that one. The Bucks were nasty last year. We were too, but I don't bet against Troy Smith vs. Michigan

ESPN
Quote:
On how many TDs he's gonna put up on OSU next year:
"Probably four."
I could see it happening. He had 3 last year.

On whether him and Henne are coming back next year:
"Of course. We've got to beat the Buckeyes."
Man's gotta beat the Bucks unless he wants to be remembered in a bad way at Michigan, which wouldn't be good considering he's going to finish as UM's all time career leading rusher.

Asked if Michigan would win a rematch:
"Definitely. No question."
See earlier response.

On who he's rooting for in the NC:
"Neither. I'm rooting for the Big Ten. That's all I have to say."
Obviously he's not a big Buckeye fan, but he was kind of rooting for you

I've got one more year left and I'm going to get them next year.
That's his motivation. I really don't see that big of a deal.

I guarantee if we play them again it would be a whole different game. We should have got them the first time around. We didn't. So if it doesn't happen, that's our faults. You know, but if we played them again, it would be a whole different game. Guarantee that.
Same as before

There's nothing special about that defense.
He carved them up for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. What's he supposed to say?

Quote:
REPORTER: Why would it be a whole different game.
MIKE HART: Because the defense played. They don't usually give up big plays. We scored more if we had offensive chances. We both had to take advantage of our opportunities offensively and defensively.
Neither D played that game.

Hart could take a few lessons from Laurinaitis.
Quote:
Afterwards, Laurinaitis was asked to respond to Hart's comment on the OSU defense.
"You know, that's Mike's opinion," Laurinaitis said. "I don't have anything to say back to him. He's a great running back and a great player. We're just going to enjoy this win."

Or his teammate
Quote:
REPORTER: Is that the toughest loss of your career, would you say?
CHAD HENNE: It's definitely hard to swallow, but, you know, it's never fun losing to Ohio State. I mean, it's a great rivalry. Great tradition goes with it. But we fought, and Ohio State -- I mean, they just made a lot more bigger plays.

I don't think Mike should be spewing off as much as he does about the Buckeyes and Laurinaitis and Henne are much more diplomatic and politically correct about things. But it's his opinion, and we're all entitled to one. You don't have to agree with it

While I understand where you come from, I hope you are wrong there. I would like nothing better than us ruining ttun's undefeated season... again.

You know what, I think Mike Hart has a lot of emotion, he's a good player and that's overshadowed by the fact that he's too busy talking trash. "'We definitely would have beaten the Buckeyes" give me a friggin' break, how many chances did the guy need? I am sorry scUM fan, but Troy Smith was a wolverine killer. Does anyone honestly think that Mike Hart really wanted another chance to get beat down by #10? Then what happens? If they lose, then suddenly he's the first Buckeye to beat Michigan 4 times in three years, I realize it's all "what if" now, but that guy needs to shut his friggin' mouth. If they lose this year then he becomes the biggest choke-job in Michigan history, regardless of his "Michigan Man" talk he stole from Bo.

Memo to Mike Hart: Shut your mouth, play ball, and do something noteworthy for your school, if you actually win something you go down in history as a great running back, but if you lose something everyone from UM and tOSU thinks of you as nothing more than a loud mouth who couldn't back up what he said.

I feel the same way, obviously with the teams switched around. I actually root for situations like last year where both teams are undefeated heading into it and I want UM to pull it out. It hurts a team more if you're their first defeat late in the year than being their 3rd or 4th. So really, I'm an Ohio State fan the first 11 weeks of the season

Exactly. Making excuses, guarantees and disparaging remarks after losing is pretty poor, and repeating those comments for months is even worse. When he conducts himself in that manner, it doesn't really matter whether there is some truth in what he said.
Laurinaitis and Henne are much more diplomatic and politically correct about things.
Privately, they probably feel the same level of hatred and confidence as Hart, but are smart enough not to make themselves look bad and provide bulletin board material for next year.
But it's his opinion, and we're all entitled to one. You don't have to agree with it
Um, ok. I doubt this line is very convincing when Harbaugh, Sharp/Carty & Holtz are talking about UM.

wanted to respond to a few of your comments

Even if it's possible, it is still very cocky and disparaging to predict that after losing.
Neither D played that game.
Exactly... OSU's defense was not great last year, but did well at forcing turnovers, yet did not produce any that night.

In the span of a few minutes, Hart guaranteed a rematch win, a win next year, belittled the defense, made excuses for his defense, and suggested the game was a fluke.

As far as the game going differently, how about not dominating the turnover margin, thanks to 2 uncharacteristic snaps? Esp w/ OSU's turnover-forcing defense?

I'll put up all my vCash I have on hand at the end of TheGame that Hart doesn't score four TDs against us...our defense should be better than last year's by season's end and Hart's contant yappin' will provide plenty of bulletin board material.

Anything but what he said. That's his problem, hge spews off at the mouth and comes off looking exactly like what I said a couple posts back. Show a little humility in your loss instead of behaving like a bitter douchebag.

He certainly is. And we're certainly entitled to call him names when he does.

While a big part of me agrees, few things give me more joy that watching ttun fail, be it against the Buckeyes or anyone else.

I do have to say I give a player (on any team) credit for having the balls to guarantee a win. That's putting a lot on the line.

See comments. Look, I think Hart will end up being right and Michigan will beat Ohio State this year, but that's for a different day and a different thread. I stand by some of his comments, I don't stand by some of his others. I don't know if he were an OSU player I'd call him a jackass, but I understand how you guys aren't thrilled with the shit he's said. All in all, I think some people are overblowing this whole thing. If Hart wants to talk, let him talk. I think he's going to end his career on a high note with an OSU win and a bowl win, simply because no one goes 0-4 vs. OSU. You guys won't agree (surprise surprise) but I suppose we will find out in Ann Arbor this year.

Who knows, they may win this year, they may not, hell even Cooper won a couple times. Rivalries tend to sway back and forth, and whether you want to admit it or not, you're on the downside of that rivalry right now.

If UM does beat us this year it's for one reason, we have an inexperinced offense, and you guys will have kept everyone around for that last chance. That's how it will be known, it's like failing your senior year so you have a chance to try and win a fight against some freshman.

I will keep saying this. I think the biggest opponent Michigan will have when we come to AA is the pressure those returning offensive seniors have put on themselves and the team by returning. Winning is an absolute expectation. Losing? Wow. Can you imagine passing up the NFL and coming back just to lose for a fourth straight year? Talk about pressure.

You're absolutely right. And the crazy thing is Henne and Hart will/should be record holders at their positions and should go down as Michigan Hall of Famers, however if they go 0-4 that's all people are ever going to talk about.
