I put as much weight into Scout's rankings as Charlie Weis spends time on a treadmill. I prefer Rivals myself, and that's what I went with. Sorry. I believe Zwick was a 5 star and supposed to be the savior. Instead, Troy came in.
I'd suggest you stop by the Recruiting Rankings thread. By and large, this board finds rivals' rankings to be a joke, largely due to the way a couple homers (Burton) ignore the regional experts' input.

Ginn is awful technically. His massive route-running knowledge (fly, deep post, end around, bubble screen) needs A LOT of work.
Manningham is not exactly a well-rounded route runner either... and has way too many drops on easy passes, for whatever reason. (seems to be a strange tradition lately, mm, braylon, & terrell - moreso in the pros).

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him on my team, as he is a big time threat. But I don't think either were very complete WRs.

Which is exactly why he was the #2 WR and #9 pick over in the NFL draft...

Come on. You and I both know he wasn't drafted for his receiving ability at 9. He's got incredible, and I do stress incredible straight line speed and his return ability is off the charts as well. Cam Cameron himself said "wait till you see this kid's returning ability" Not receiving as Ginn is an incredibly raw product at WR. He's got the wheels, now he needs to get a little more polished. From a pure receiving standpoint, do you honestly think Ginn was the #2 WR in the draft? I can name 3 WR off the top of my head that are better pass-catchers.

There's more to being WR than the simple ability to catch the ball. You have to get open. He smoked the Thorpe Award winner. He smoked your secondary. Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to smoke Florida...

I dont recall Tedward dropping many balls. I'd concede that he's not as polished as a man who's been playing WR for his entire life, let's not forget he was a DB and QB back in HS. But, if you look at the strides he made from when he was a Freshman to his last game... well.. not his last game, as he didn't run route one, I guess... you'll see a kid who learned how to play the position. He's not a finished product, but he's far from raw.

But he's not as good an all-around receiver as guys like Jarrett, Bowe, Meachem. You could make an argument Sidney Rice is a better WR than Ginn.

And you could make the same argument about Mario, imo... which is the core comparison of these tangents.

That you could. Personally I'd take Mario as a receiver ahead of Teddy, then again I'm biased and you guys probably feel the same way about Teddy so there's no point arguing their merits against each other. Out of curiosity, (I didn't watch every OSU game last year) why was Teddy's ypc so low? For a guy known as a deep threat he had an unusually low ypc. Did you guys do a lot of slants and curls for him?

While a deep threat, he was used underneath as well... just like a real WR is expected to do. That is to say, we didn't say "Ted, go long" every play. I don't think he'll be confused as a "possession" receiver, but the kid can catch the short and intermediate routes too.

This ones getting way too far off topic but what the hell....2004 MSU, 2004 Alamo Bowl, 2004 IU, 2006 Texas are just 4 real quick ones off the top of my head that TG caught a short pass and turned it into a monster. I'm sure I'm missing many others.

Sometimes myths take on a life of their own.
