I don't believe RR ever coached against a Big Ten team while at WVU.

RR faced Barry Alvarez teams twice.

2002 - Wiscy 34, WVU 17 (in Madison) - Wiscy was 8-6, WVU was 9-4 that year

2003 - Wiscy 24, WVU 17 (in Morgantown), Wiscy was 7-6, WVU was 8-5 that year, but co-Big East champs when the league still had Miami/B.C./Va.Tech

JT's perspective from the sidelines at games ...

(I'd anti-alias RRods head better, but I'm eating so this is a one-minute Photoshop). :p

Yep, from what I have heard some of this increased hatred has to do with the Cap One Bowl. Carr refused to let Carty and the rest of the free press in for his last post game speech.
It started a LONG time before that. Splashy articles get hits/sales, and that's his schtick. Bruce Hooley does the same thing, just on the flagship cbus radio station (to a lesser degree now, with less to attack).

I gotta agree that the Detroit papers generally seem more anti-UM than the Cbus Dispatch.
I tend to get the impression that the Freep favors MSU and the News favors U-M. I don't really have a solid basis for that, just an impression. That article was NOT written by Drew Sharp however - unless it was dictated at gunpoint - and therefore gains a measure of credibility.

We have a similiar setup here in SoCal, LA Times has a huge Bias towards USC and the OC Register seems to focus more on UCLA.

Monday Recruitin' | mgoblog

Brian's recruiting update. Usual good writing from Brian, but the comments are priceless - especially RE: James Jackson.

Living behind enemy lines here in Ohio is a drag. All the buzz is about their recruiting class, including some insiped propganda piece penned in the Dayton paper last week where their main source is the "recruiting analyst" from the bucknuts. Goes on and on about how A.) the class is 'oh my god totally shirtless' and B.) how it was made at the expense of Michigan with upwards of six head to head recruiting battles going to OSU, not UM. Talk about red meat for the masses. Anyway, its working because all these buckeyes that live around me are already planning championship parades. Here's the link below if anyone can stomach to read it. Personally, I did not think UM was really all that in play with the guys listed. And, yes, so the stud WR from the state of michigan is going to osu, but, ah, we have plenty of those in the fold, so who gives a rip. http://www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/osu/200...
James Jackson isn't that good. That article makes it seem like stealing him was monumental, when he probably wouldn't have been a contributer at either school. I kind of expected him to go to MSU. I don't see James Jackson being a household name in the Big Ten at any point.

scUM fans have been whistling past the graveyard since JT took over.

RR and recruiting are the only things they have left. Unfortunately for the scUMers they have to start playing the games soon and it will be all down hill from there.
