No, that would be expected if the WVU players pushed for Rodriguez to be fired and replaced with Stewart. The fact that Rodriguez quit of his own volition, and the players then had any particular preference for Rodriguez's replacement, doesn't make it "expected" that they'd have issues with Rodriguez's coaching style.HailToMichigan;1148140; said:Given RR's methods it's highly understandable that his former charges are happy with a change of pace. In fact it's probably to be expected, especially since they were the ones who pushed for Stewart to be hired in the first place.
This should be obvious. Now that Rodriguez is no longer his coach, Pat White stands to make no gain nor suffer any harm as a result of whatever comments he makes about Rodriguez. Current Michigan players, in contrast, are likely to pay a price for publicly criticizing their head coach - as would be the case at most any school. That doesn't automatically mean that any compliments Michigan players pay to their coach are insincere, but there clearly is a difference in the amount of honesty that can be assumed in the two situations.HailToMichigan;1148140; said:And why does White's comment carry more weight than those of Michigan players who think the new approach will be good for them, too?

I'll never understand QBs going to the same school. RBs? Fine...you need more than one. WRs? OLine? Of course. But QBs? How does that work?
That's not really the same thing, though, considering that Leak was a senior when Tebow was a freshman. I'd bet most quarterbacks would be happy to be guaranteed a situational role for their freshman year. Very few, I suspect, would be happy to be guaranteed that role for four years.ChisAto;1151473; said:Well, Newsome and Forcier he sold them on the Tebow and Leak duo.. They both like that..
I would also add that the point of having a tandem is to have dissimilar styles. Don't think there's a lot of difference in Newsome's and Beaver's playing styles, so I think it kind of defeats the purpose. But two is better than one. Competition is always a plus. And RR's offense kind of makes quarterbacks take a beating, so a tandem would have the dual benefit of having a safety net if one goes down, and reducing the risk of injury overall.zincfinger;1151482; said:That's not really the same thing, though, considering that Leak was a senior when Tebow was a freshman. That said, I don't think it's that unusual for a school to sign more than one highly regarded QB in the same year. It happened at OSU not so long ago. But I'd bet each of those guys is hoping, and to some extent expecting, to win a true starting job somewhere down the line.
Sure, that's easy to agree with. But you're kind of inverting the (moot) point from "why would multiple highly-rated QB's want to sign with the same school?", to "why would one school want to sign multiple highly-rated QB's?". But yes, it's easy to see why Michigan would want to sign both of them. For the reasons you mentioned, and perhaps most of all, because you're doubling your chances that at least one guy will pan out.HailToMichigan;1151538; said:...But two is better than one. When it comes down to that, Beaver's deal is that TCU and sundry other schools were recruiting him as an athlete/WR/not-quarterback. He was set to commit to TCU as such when RR offered him as a QB. Apparently he prefers playing QB enough that competition and a possible back-up role is better than another position. Michigan instead of TCU probably has a little bit to do with it too.zincfinger;1151550; said:Sure, that's easy to agree with.
