Only if he turns out to be right. Given RR's methods it's highly understandable that his former charges are happy with a change of pace. In fact it's probably to be expected, especially since they were the ones who pushed for Stewart to be hired in the first place. But would you take White very seriously if he regresses despite liking the style better? And why does White's comment carry more weight than those of Michigan players who think the new approach will be good for them, too?

Because Pat White knows, the Michigan players think.

The thing is, I could understand RR's constant badgering if he were a strict disciplinarian. He's not. He just likes to pick on kids. He's a fucking bully. There is nothing I hate more than a bully.

Pat White went through three years with him, um players have had a couple of months. UM has already had their top returning OL leave. Also, wouldn't you think it's safe to say that kids will not typically speak out against their current coach? Especially one of his personality type? He won at WVU when he happened upon a special talent like White to run his offense. White only became the starter as a replacement when the previous starter was injured. Look at his W-L record before and after White. A very strong argument could be made that his offense revolves around the playmaking abilities of his QB. When White went down, so did his offense. Time will tell how Pat does under Stewart, but it's kinda funny that Stewart took the same team that lost to a very mdiocre Pitt team with all the marbles on the line, then thrashed the best opponent they saw all year in their bowl game with Bill Stewart at the helm. I know White was hurt during the Pitt game and healthy during the Oklahoma game...kinda my point. Will he be able to find someone like that at um? We'll see.

H2M - I know you're protecting your guy and all, but .... well... it's kind of like the 800lb Gorilla thread..... do you see the flags being popped up from varying sources, or is this just Buckeye fan homerism?
Obviously we are pre-disposed to hate anything up north, but these same criticisms were made of him at WVU. I just don't think his style of coaching and schemes will be as successful as they are hoping in the Big-10. By the time he gets his players in place, the rest of the league will have a leg up on defending that offense. He ran up numbers against lesser Big-East defenses, but was regularly contained by better teams (S. Florida being the prime example in '06-'07). Time will tell, and I'm sure he'll win his share of games, but I don't see him taking um to the heights they hope he will.

It'll be another year of waiting, but it appears Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has his quarterback for Michigan. Kevin Newsome, a four-star recruit out of Chesapeake, Va. who stands 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, verbally committed to Michigan this morning, according to Rivals.com. -- Detroit Free Press

Michigan might have found its quarterback, gets 4-star commit | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

a star for every loss he'll take to OSU in his career, how appropriate.

Seriously though, look at it. In the fall of 2009 the savior will arrive and be a true f'ing freshman, good luck kid. Now its 2010 and he's a soph and can do some damage, oh wait The Game is in C-bus. So by 2011 you can give them an even money chance to beat us IF this kid pans out (along with a whole lot of other players).

I'll take our chances for the next three years in the rivalry and we'll see what scUM fans think of RR if he hasn't really changed anything in the W/L column and he's had 3 more years to tarnish their image off the field.

My guess is they cut ties at about the 4-5 year mark and a new guy has to come in and rebuild a roster recruited to fit a gimmick offense. Lather, rinse, repeat.

OK, so now, to get this thread back on topic...

Did anyone else ever spend the time to think about the brilliance of using the word "repeat" on the back of a bottle of shampoo? Let's break this down a little bit...

I am bald, so leave me out of this sample size, but let's assume everyone only Lathered and then rinsed once per shower. Easy enough. Now let's think about how many of you people actually REPEAT this process.

If everyone REPEATED this process, shampoo companies double their sales.

Just sayin... brilliant.

Sorry, htm... had to return the favor for the 'newsome & um' quote bump from the other day.

I would be willing to bet copious amounts of money that one of those names - Pryor, Gray, Spano, Britt, or Reamon - will be on the back of a maize-and-blue uniform next year. Any one of them would be more likely to start than the current corps of candidates.
:p

Glad to have you (& ChrisAto, etc) around these parts. We might all be unapologetic homers and argumentative on some topics (Boren, RR), but I appreciate you bringing it strong day after day. Even if it gets swatted into the 10th row

I wish I was like HTM and posted in the Rich Rod threads.. Just I'd get too much into it and probably go a little too far.. so I stick to here and a few other threads.. Funny thing though, this is like the 20th site I've used the name ChisAto on and every single one adds the R to my name, lol.

By the way recruiting wise, Bryce McNeal is waiting for his family to visit Michigan before he commits.. And a fact not known (atleast I don't think so) about Newsome is he silent committed to Michigan on Monday but was not going to announce it til August.. However Rivals broke the story early and so it came out.

I can respect that, it can be tough to stomach things on a rivals board, no matter how much tolerance you have or ability to chuckle at the nonsense.

I really wish Sniper would've been able to find that balance, miss him around these parts :(

 Sorry bro, I'll work on that.

I don't think the whole spiel about rivals outing the kid isn't very well known, however our own UF mentioned the monday (silent) commit in his thread.

Actually, Gray ended up in maize (Minny's yellow isn't much different, anyway) and Britt ended up in blue, so I was half-right twice, which adds up to "nailed it" :wink2:

Hmmm

I am suddenly sad that I was recently banned on GBW..as entertaining as the 'debate' here was about UM's RBs being on par with OSU, I can only imagine how many threads there are over there claiming Newsome is clearly superior to Pryor. I could use the laughs.......

:tongue2:

By the way, Trent's play at DB might be one of the biggest reasons I will be more confident we will beat UM this season than I may have EVER been. I put Trent right below the OL, QB and lack of proven starter at RB on the list of why I think this is the year I might actually be calmly optimistic in the days leading up to THE GAME.

The 2010 game might be in C-Bus, but the deciding factor will be that the Brew Crew will be juniors. By 2011, UM would have an even money chance, though Tressel will have stacked three or four Top-3 recruiting classes on top of each other.

Even without knowing which of this years class RS or stay for their Sr. seasons, OSU should be so loaded it will be criminal.
