Spring game info from mlive.
Just got back. It was "closed to the public" but open to anyone who still decided to show up in the cold rain. Random observations: *Sheridan threw the ball much better than Threet during drills. Much better. However when the actual scrimmage took place Threet looked better. How much of this had to do with him playing with 1st string and Sheridan with 2nd I'm not sure.
*Minor looked good. Grady looked much better than I expected. Leander, meaner; I think he's ready to get back into it.
*TEs Butler and Webb both looked great but dropped every pass that came their way during the scrimmage it seemed. Not "couldn't catch," dropped.
*WRs disappointed a bit. Stonum couldn't really shake Trent and Warren, but those guys are both awfully fast and tough. Matthews looks big and confident and made a few very nice catches during game play. Clemons showed some elusiveness on bubble screens. Otherwise a bit underwhelming.
*Schilling looks a lot leaner and is very motivated. As others have observed, he lines up first to do things in drills and going onto the field. I'm not a good enough judge of O-line play to say much about the rest of the group.
*Schilling, Stevie Brown, and Ezeh all got awards for their work in the offseason and spring practice.
*Trent seemed to be leading the defense in warmups.
*Panter was starting at LB. Looked pretty quick and very big (tall).
*Avery horn looked TERRIBLE to me during drill and warmups, and then turned in most of the big plays during the scrimmage (against 2d team D). Go figure.
*We're using a wacky punt formation with 2-3 yards between each man up on the line and 3 deep in front of the punter. Looked good to me.
*They brought in a Big 10 officiating crew to call penalties for the scrimmage.
*Several recruits were on hand but looked a bit bored and miserable watching drills in the cold rain. They also seemed grumpy when UM staff cleared them off the field and told them to find seats on the rain-soaked steel benches in the stands.
*1st offense moved the ball pretty well against our first D. Whether that's good or bad is a glass half full/empty question
