IMO Michigan losing Perry is about as big as it gets for them. The top player in your state IMO going elsewhere for the 2nd straight year is very telling. I think McGuffie fits RR offense to a T. Losing him to CAL is a huge blow. Its cool to steal players from PURDON't and getting Ohio kids OSU didn't offer but IMO not getting Perry and possibly losing McGuffie is a disaster. Especially with the number of Schollies OSU has next year to clean house in state and roam up north and snag a few.

From the Grand Haven Tribune via the terrific mgoblog. Commenting is Michigan signee Dann O'Neill.
While the attention over the past year has been fun, O'Neill is surprised and disappointed by the amount of banter created on various Internet sites such as Rivals.com and Scout.com. Rivals reported Tuesday that Michigan recruit Sam McGuffie, a star running back from Texas, may waver on his verbal commitment to Michigan.

"That's just talk," O'Neill said. "Those people on Rivals are just trying to get more subscriptions. The other recruits and I would know if someone was going to commit. The two kids who did de-commit let us know before they did it so we wouldn't have to find out on Rivals.

"There were rumors about J.B. Fitzgerald going to Rutgers. He and I talked probably more than any other recruit, and he was talking about (Rutgers) before the new coaches were announced, but once they announced Coach Rod, he was set on Michigan.

"McGuffie loves it in Ann Arbor. He doesn't want to go anywhere else."

Here's more. Houston Chronicle this time:

?I talked to him,? said Cy-Fair offensive lineman Chris Lathrop, who signed with Texas A&M this morning. ?It?s like a wedding almost. He got cold feet and didn?t come to school. He told me that doesn?t know where he wants to go.?
Sounds pretty waver-ish. Maybe he got nervous about making a commitment. O'Neill is admittedly not likely to be the first option for McGuffie when trying to work out a decision.
