Let's see a 2-deep of the O-line. I count 5 O-linemen leaving from the 2007 team.

Turning it back to more glass half empty mode, how does this place the depth of UM's O-line? (Also does it clearly makes TSUN's recruiting agenda for '09 and out more line heavy than before?)

Yes, Morgan Trent was a redshirt junior last season and will be redshirt senior next season. He played surprisingly well last season for being just his 2nd year of CB (He was recruited as a WR, and played WR til his RS So season) but against Ohio State he reverted back to his old self and was beat on the first pass play. If it wasn't for a poor throw by Boeckman OSU would have scored a TD..Jaxbuck;1071165; said:Didn't I read somewhere we get an extra year of Morgan Trent as well?
I'll answer the depth question below, and concerning Michigan's recruiting agenda for this upcoming recruiting season, yes it will be more line based then this season. Michigan only has 5 lineman over the past 2 recruiting classes (excluding this year). Coming into the recruiting year we needed atleast 5 recruits, and in part thanks to the superb recruiting of Jim Tressel and OSU, we missed out on a few big targets and ended up with 4. This means one of the players in this year's class (Highest probability being Dann O'Neill) will not redshirt and will start early on in his career.sandgk;1070672; said:Glass half full mode on 100% SNIPER26

Rich Rod has announced that only LT will be locked, all the other 4 positions will be interchangeable. Boren has experience at guard and center, Schilling as experience at guard and tackle, and Molk has (practice) experience at guard and center as well. Incoming freshman Dann O'Neill has impressed the coaching staff, and he will have a good shot at significant playing time as a freshman. David Molk impressed the staff last year and on numerous occasions they wanted to drop his redshirt to get him playing time, but thought better of it. Michigan's line will be very young next year, and it'll be a question mark early on in the year.
To CleveBucks, this is just my thoughts on what Michigan's line will look like next year. I hope this is satisfactory for you...
U-M COACHING CONTRACTS: Pay pool grows for U-M assistants; Don't expect many RichRod commericials

Rich Rodriguez gained a significant edge for his coaching staff in the letter of intent he signed with Michigan on Dec. 16 to become the football team's head coach.
Rodriguez secured a $1.95-million pool for his nine assistant coaches and the head football strength coach, according to the letter of intent. That means each would have an average salary of $195,000, though offensive coordinator Calvin Magee and defensive coordinator Scott Shafer will likely receive larger shares.
Also in Rodriguez's letter of intent is a list of bonuses for reaching differing levels of bowl participation. He receives $50,000 if U-M makes a non-Jan. 1 bowl; $100,000 for a Jan. 1, non-BCS bowl; $200,000 for reaching a BCS game, and $300,000 for winning the BCS national title game. The bonuses are not cumulative.
Rodriguez has a base salary of $300,000 and will make $2.2 million in additional compensation for working within U-M's commercial, marketing and broadcast rights. Because of that additional compensation, U-M controls all of Rodriguez's commercial endorsement and marketing rights.
That means it's unlikely Rodriguez will appear in local commercials, as he did in West Virginia. He does own and operate the summer football camps, though.

Thank you, I always read this site (even as a Michigan fan it's very well put out and informative, and it seems to lack the trolls that are in other places) and just recently decided to join. Even though I hate OSU with a passion, I respect them and give them the props that they're due. I'll probably just stay in this thread concerning Michigan stuff, but pop into other threads from time to time.MililaniBuckeye;1072329; said:Thanks for the in-depth info, ChisAto, and welcome to the board.
Signing day storylines: Lloyd Carr certainly established a top-15 class before announcing his retirement, but the big question for Wolverine fans is whether recently hired Rich Rodriguez can add some weapons before signing day to fit his explosive spread offense run at West Virginia. ESPN's No. 1-rated quarterback prospect Terrelle Pryor's dual-threat skills would fit perfectly in that system, but even without his presence, Rodriguez certainly has to be pleased with the present class he was left to finish despite a tumultuous 2007 season in Ann Arbor. The overall roster may be is ill-equipped for the spread -- hence the transfer of quarterback Ryan Mallet -- but the 2008 offensive class has some impressive weapons.
