what stuck out to me in his comments was that Jamario O'Neal still needs to work on learning the defense :(.

Padraig--thanks for the thorough write-up. I'm actually not incredibly surprised by this comment about JO'Neal. I expect that a few games into the season he won't be starting anymore.

OHIO STATE NOTEBOOK
All three quarterbacks getting their licks in
Friday, April 06, 2007
Ken Gordon
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Ohio State quarterback competition is truly three headed as the team prepares for its first live scrimmage of the spring today in Ohio Stadium.
Though coach Jim Tressel has said Todd Boeckman is atop the depth chart, players say Rob Schoenhoft and Antonio Henton also are getting time with the first-team offense. "We rotate," tackle Kirk Barton said. "(In) the scrimmage, I?m pretty sure they?ll each get a couple series with the ones, so that will be interesting to see how they do, Trying to figure out who our quarterback is going to be, that?s been fun to watch."

The guys I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do are Ray Small, Albert Dukes and Mo Wells.

We know Beanie is a game changer. I feel the previously mentioned three can be as well.

The other thing I really am looking forwrd to seeing is Nader Abdallah finally making some plays and reaching his potential.

Henton............we all know that the QB position takes a ton of work and Henton has skills you can't coach, but the whole development process often takes time.
He doesn't have to start from the first game or this season.

agreed.
Our offense isn't going to be real easy to master. Henton will be fine. He just needs time.

That is what I have been preaching. Our offense lost a lot of key guys from last season. Tressel is going to feel more comfortable (at least initially) handing the ball over to a guy who has been in the system for 4 years. The offense next season needs all the experience they can get.

The quotes from the article about Henton were positive. 1) It sounds like he's erratic enough so as not to fool anyone into giving him serious game minutes right now; and 2) He has all the talent in the world and will be able to do what he wants on the field. When and if he gets on the same page with JT like Troy was, hopefully, we'll see greatness again. Until then we're set at qb and he can take his time learning how to play qb for tOSU and not just ball.

If Boeckman is just solid at QB, I may have to re-asses my view that this offense won't be so explosive!
And a scary defense will set the plate for an offense trying to find it's way!

I'm holding off on "scary", at least in a positive way, defense untill I see the how the defensive line looks, especially the interior.

Spring Practice Update
By John Porentas

The Buckeyes will conduct their seventh practice session of spring football today, this one a scrimmage in Ohio Stadium pitting the offense against the defense and with the winner winning the right to wear the scarlet jerseys at practice.

Like the first six practices this spring the scrimmage will be closed to both the public and the media, though the media will meet with players and coaches following the scrimmage.

...

At least three Buckeyes will either miss the first scrimmage or will be limited in their participation due to recent minor injuries. Barton has a slight knee injury, offensive lineman Kyle Mitchum has an ankle injury that will slow him for about two weeks, and running back Chris "Beanie" Wells is also nursing a minor ankle injury.

On a side note where does everyone think we'd be ranked if all our Juniors returned? Pittman, Gonzo, and Ginn?[/quote]
on another side note, how do you all think the hoops team would have done if LeBron had been a senior on the team this year???

:wink2:
