2007 Preseason and Regular season Polls

Don't have much to say about the polls this early in the year. Still lots of football to play. There will be more upsets, more surprise players making an impact, more injuries (unfortunately), more disappointing performances and whatever other unforeseen things that happen every year. But I did want to subscribe to this thread...

The Buckeyes just need to keep winning and the polls will sort themselves out. It's hard to be 100% sold on just about any team out there this early...

Uh, calm down people. We aren't immune either. It's still early....

Buckeyes likely to rise in polls after victory

MINNEAPOLIS ? Ohio State didn't exactly shred Minnesota's notoriously porous defense. But on a day of upsets in college football, no one in the visiting locker room was worrying about the work-in-progress offense.

The Only List That Matters

Well, how is that for a jump? Keep winning, and we are set. But that might be easier said than done. In terms of getting there though, it seems this thread is paying attention to the human polls, while the thing we need to keep our eyes on is the BCS standings. Cal is behind us there, and I expect that we will be third in the pre-BCS standings this evening behind USC and LSU.

GO BUCKS!

I think we'll be fourth, the general thought from the media seems to be that Big 10 is horribly weak, as opposed to the idea that the Pac 10 is supposedly a "super conference" this year, so I expect Cal to be ahead of us.

Still way to early to be too concerned with the Polls though, we're just starting to hit the meat of our schedule, Purdue next week will be a good test for us, depending on our performance there I may start hoping for us to move into a higher position.

Also, don't forget that Florida and LSU play next week as well, and Urban Meyer can put together a gimmick single game like nobody else, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see LSU on the losing end of that contest.

I would. the UF-Auburn game only just brought more attention to the gators unimpressive D line, and the Ole Miss game shown the light on exploiting their secondary.

LSU is balanced from receiver to lineman.... if they can prevent turn-overs and establish a solid run game, they'll manage time fairly well against urban making it 2 in a row

Well, as Jax called it, one of the teams above us lost, and that team (WVU) is the only one of the seven ahead of us who won't play a game against another team in the current top 7. So, we win out and we're guaranteed to be in the top four by the end of the regular season.

Let me fix that for you, Mili.

So, we BEAT MINNESOTA and we're guaranteed to be in the top four by the end of the weekend.

I know you fixed it yourself with a post later in the day yesterday. :wink2:

The best scenario we could hope for from the SEC is that LSU beats UF this week giving them 2 losses and eliminating them from NC contention. Then, a young but talented UF team gets better each week and knocks LSU off in the SECCG.

USC and OSU run the table and we get to play USC without their built in home field advantage of the RB. We would actually have a large crowd advantage in a truely nuetral site like the Superdome.

Very plausible scenario imo.

My thoughts exactly. But if Cal beats USC in Strawberry Canyon, I'd be fine with tOSU facing them. LSU is the team to avoid in the BCS Championship Game this year, because of its location in Louisiana.

Yes. When I say USC I guess I should do it by conference.

Its a 3 conference race for 2 spots in the NC game at this point.

Pac 10 champ/B10 champ/SEC champ. Given what we have seen as far as parity this year I highly doubt we get 3 undefeated conf champs.

If we can take care of business we will be playing for the NC again this year.
