2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

I sure hope so. Tebow winning the Heisman even once would make me sick, let alone twice.

Well, Tebow is pretty fucking amazing, and I don't see the voters giving it to anyone twice ever again. DMC may have stolen it today, I can't say, his performance is what the heisman should be about under the biggest lights, he played his best game.

Tebow is a sophomore, if he has the numbers next year he had this year then look out, but the fact that he is a sophomore may be what hurts him this year. Who knows.

Tebow did something this year that no other QB has ever done. McFadden, while he has had a ridiculous year, has had a few off-games. I see Tebow over McFadden, barely.

I'll be rooting for McFadden.

Beanie has a fifth-place vote on ESPN right now. Deserved, but unexpected.

Whoever drafts McFadden next year is one lucky team. He's Adrian Peterson without the injuries.

Vern Limpwrist and his CBS sidekick were talking up McFadden during the game as the clearly better NFL-ready type player and the best in college football over Tebow despite Tebow's numbers. So what if Tebow is the first to do the 20/20? How many TDs has he accounted for? 26 passing and 20 rushing. Colt Brennan had 12 more TDs than that last year passing alone. You could argue that Brennan is a "system" QB but there's no doubt that Florida has tweaked their system to fit their QB. And what did each do against their best common opponent, LSU, which was ranked #1 for both games? Tebow went 12-26-1 for 158 yards and 2 TDs passing and 16 rushes for 67 yards with a TD, in a four-point loss. McFadden had 32 carries for 206 yards and 3 TDs, and then went 3 for 6 passing with a TD while playing the QB position on about 20 plays, in a win. I know which one is the more Heisman-worthy performance.

I think the Heisman voters are dying for anyone to give them an excuse to give it to anyone but Tebow. McFadden may have just done that. If not look for one of the QB's to emerge from Mizzou/KU.

They just don't want to give it to a sophomore on a 3 loss team imo. All they need is someone to make a reasonable case for himself.

I agree with you, I didn't say in my post that I thought Tebow should win. I just think he will. McFadden has over 1700 rushing yards and 15 rushing TDs on a one-dimensional team that upset the number one team in the country. And he's rushing in the SEC. That > Tebow

I'm with you! :tongue2:

I'm not saying that he is unworthy of the Heisman, I just don't like the guy, and don't want him to win it.

But, even though he has had a great season, I think that a lot of it is Florida's offense geared towards him racking up the touchdowns. They're either having him throw it for the score, or having him run it in when they get close. He is a great player, but the system is allowing him to pad his stats which him getting the TDs in almost every situation.

Yeah - what a lame thing.....having the quarterack intentionally trying to score touchdowns when he throws passes to his receivers. He should know Bubba or Harvin might score when he chucks it out there! Bastards!!

(And Tim played the second half of the FSU game with a fracture. Showoff!)

The way I see it is: Do the Voters want to give the Heisman to Tebow this year, or next year? It really will come down to that, whether people want to see it or not, the guy is just a straight up freak. I think the entire country realizes that DMC isn't coming back next year, he's probably going first or second in the draft, so what reason would he have to stay? Now, that in mind, Tebow coming back next year, do you give it to DMC and wait til next year for Tebow? That will be the voters decisions.

Also, consider that Beanie will be in the running next year and if tOSU has a great year it might screw Tebow, not to mention that people can come out of the woodwork and just be amazing. I think Tebow will probably get it this year, but like I said, DMC may have just rolled into LSU and taken it Friday for the reasons I listed above. To me, those two are the best players in college football this year. Both of those guys and Chase Daniels should be invited to New York for dinner.

Clearly I missed the part of Football 101 where they explained offense. Here I was thinking that they were SUPPOSED to score touchdowns. Damn Tebow, doing offense wrong.

A wondrous season culminates with a Heisman vote

Casting my ballot for the Heis man Trophy is harder than usual this year because of the no dominant team/no dominant player theme of the season.
But it is always hard, because it is the last gesture of the most glorious season there is.
There is so much more to college football than just the football. It is about everything that surrounds the game, but the Heisman balloting is its unofficial end. I will cast mine after seeing how Missouri's Chase Daniel does Saturday against Oklahoma.
