2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

We might as well declare Tebow the Heisman winner.

I just hope SOMEBODY else could step up.

While I realize this probably stems from a dislike of the Gators due to the national title game fiascos, you really cant make an arguement for anyone else. He has 23 pass TDs to only 5 interceptions, with a 177.09 passer rating (2nd in the country), and is leading his team in rushing yards and has 19 rushing TDs. He is carrying an offense that doesn't have a running back. Florida's defense is absolutely terrible, but Tebow has been able to carry the Gators to an 8-3 record. They average 41 points a game.

Tebow is definitely high on the charts.

But, there is one other major contender (or should be in my view).

This fellow:

How well he does against LSU - despite Nutt's notoriously goofy coaching, or because of the same (as Nutt does love a ground game). That will dictate how well McFadden shows in the final voting. Plus, Tebow, glowing stats aside, has a chance for yet more bad luck on his teams schedule, specifically in the end of the season against the on again off again FSU squad.

I just heard from OregonBuckeye in the Oregon/Arizona game thread that Dixon has a torn ACL and is DONE.

NOW the Heisman race is all but done.

He actually tore it two weeks ago against ASU. I cannot believe the coaching staff and doctors even let him on the field to play. Did they figure it could not get any worse? What about the kid's future as a pro? I give him credit for wanting to do it for his team, but there has to be a reason I have never heard of anyone doing this before.

Maybe they watched Leaf throw in practice.

Now that Dixon's out,

I want to go with Mizzou's Chase Daniel as my favorite.

Not only is he a fine passer, but look at his team and Mr. Tebow's:

Missouri is chasing a national title: Florida is likely going to the Peach Bowl.

Mizzou's only loss was to highly-ranked Oklahoma on the road: while losing to Georgia and LSU is no sin, I can't defend a loss at home to a very mediocre Auburn team.

I believe they said Dixon didn't let them know the severity of it and if he came out due to it hurting he would be done. I don't think the coaches would be selfish enough to knowingly risk further damage. I sure hope not.

Is it possible for a guy to have 30 TD passes with only 4 interceptions, and be the QB of an undefeated BCS program, and receive less Heisman hype than Todd Reesing?

Just because it's never been done before doesn't mean it isn't possible...

...but no, it probably isn't possible either.

What do you guys think of DMF today? I think he was spectacular.

32 rushes for 206 yards
3/6 passing for 34 yards and 1 TD.

I really don't want Tebow to win because I want Griffin to remain the only player to win the Heisman twice. Does this put him ahead of Tebow in this race?
