2006 Heisman Discussion (merged all)

John David Booty is in his first year starting, but he is a fourth-year junior. He graduated from high school an entire year early in 2003.

Thanks for the info. Knowing that, in your estimate, do you give him much of a chance to win , or what has to happen for him to win it.
I would think he would have to have an exempliary year and for several others to stumble. I dont think he is the leader now or even in the top five.

I am curious to know if any first year (playing) man has ever won. I'll have to look it up tomorrow. To the best of my knowledge it hasn't happened.
:oh:

I agree he's not in the top-5 now, but as the QB of a USC team that has a chance to go undefeated, he's on the radar. If USC loses, he's probably out of it, unless he compiles ridiculous stats.

Apparently the staff at CFN needs to be slapped for their #9 guy.

ESPN Heisman Watch Week 3:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/heisman06/index

Troy and AP split the 3 first place votes A.J. Hawk's brother-in-law had last week, Troy taking two (moving from 9 to 11) and AP claiming one (moving from 3 to 4).
The ND loss allowed everybody to slide up one slot, so Ginn jumps from 5 to 4.

Can ESPN just fire the two people that voted AJH's-Bro-in-law 2nd and 3rd? How anybody can have him in the top-3 after Saturday just boggles the mind.

If Troy Smith threw 3 INTs he would be out of the top 5 easily but the golden boy in South Bend is another story. I am sure the media believes they werent his fault. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back in East Lansing on Saturday. I hope Sparty puts the smack down on them.

It isn't just the 3 INTs against UM, it's the history -- like watching the same game film over-and-over -- where in three of ND's last four games (OSU, GT, UM), Quinn folds like a cheap lawn chair if the D-Line brings any pressure.

To be fair, one of Quinn's INTs was the reciever's fault and another one was due because one of the Mich. defenders bumped into his arms as he was releasing.

That being said, ints are ints, and with the way Troy and AP and Slaton are playing, theres no way for Quinn to get back into it unless ND runs the table and plays in the title game.

The ball was thrown behind the receiver, if you're talking about the pick six on the first posession.

Troy Smith threw a touchdown with a defensive lineman hanging on his back.

P.S. I will not be fair to A.J. Hawk's brother-in-law.

Troy Smith once threw a touchdown pass with the entire cast of Who's the Boss, the referee Lllllyod car got fired, and a sack of potatoes on his back....with his eyes closed.
