2006 Breakout/Surprise Players

I'd have to agree with you. At best, he was the 4th-best known OL behind Mangold, Sims, and even his backup, Alex Boone.
If Barton and Boone qualify as the ineligible picks for 2006 Breakout campaigns, then I'll go with Datish on O. Datish quietly turned in a pretty special season, and is poised for big things. Nationally, at least up until now, Datish's only claim to fame is that Ginn can run 30 yards and make 3 cuts faster than Datish can run 10 yards in a straight line. :wink2:

Defense, I think Amos will star, or Mitchell if considering guys that got significant PT this year while still being under the radar.

Special teams, I'll go with whoever the PK is, unless Haw is on the return team ... then I'll choose Haw.

Offense - Gonzalez. I know he may count as your "my grandmother knows him, so I'm going to kick you in your junk," but I'm still going with him. He's going to show that he can fill Holmes' shoes very, very well. While Ginn will get the spotlight, Gonzo will lead the team in receptions, and will show that he will be an extraordinary possession receiver.

Defense - I need to pick a linebacker, I think. I'll go with D'Andrea. He'll finally have an injury-free season (I hope) and will be a big part in keeping Ohio State's defense a strong link in the chain.

Special Teams - Crap. I don't know. I don't see Trepasso being a stellar punter. He's solid, but he's not going to become a Groom or Sander. And the kicker - Pretorious? I'm a little skeptical of freshmen (even redshirt freshmen) since even Nugent put up some bad numbers as a freshman. But I think I'll go with him, anyway. He'll put a few through the uprights when we need them.

Even guys that are going to be 26 or 27 years old?
