2006 BCS, polls, Bowl Predictions and computer ratings

Texas is our friend.....

I have a question for the board-

Let me preface my question by stating that I firmly belive that we will beat scUM and this question will be moot.

Assume prior to 11-18 the rankings are

1) OSU
2) scUM
3) Texas

Assume we lose a close game (There are plagues of locusts, the "UPS Chick" has Troy Smith locked in the back of her truck, and Ted Ginn has torn both his ACL and MCL on his right leg).

Are we still in the National Championship Game?

We'd have to be- Wouldn't we!?

WV jumped texas , interesting. but after we beat tsun and louisville beats Wv then we will play Texas for the NC

I don't think that will happen. Look at where UL is now and then factor in where they go if they beat WVU. No way the human polls leave them behind a 1 loss Texas if they go undefeated.

Its still The Game winner vs the Thursday night game winner imo.

which is why those crafty ap voters from cali are voting wvu as number one. i doubt it's because they think that wvu is better than osu. instead, they recognized that usc was riddled with faults, the sec is cannibalistic, and the big 12's best team lost to ohio state (anyone know if the wvu voters voted for the team in the preseason polls?). by almost default, either wvu or l'ville is left. again, it would be interesting to find out whether those two votes went wvu's way after or before the injuries to bush and brohm.

so those voters will be very proud of themselves, regardless of the outcome of the nc game. only if the game is a blowout would the two votes appear absurd.

then again, they appear pretty damn absurd right now. our offense would have a field day with their defense. our defense, too, would find their offense well overrated.

What if Rutgers goes undefeated in the Big East???
unfortunately for them, i don't think that they can make up that much ground in the bcs poll. neither wvu, l'ville, nor rutgers yet have a victory over a top-25 team. the best win, i think, for any of those teams is a l'ville shellacking of a pitiful thug u. florida and texas would pound the big east's best team.

If Rutgers goes undefeated, and they are the only undefeated Big East team, its hard to ignore them. Keep in mind, if they win out, their SoS and and credibility go way up. Knocking off UL and WVU will do a lot for them and they should jump both, however we've seen that not happen before.

Here comes the bigger question: If an undefeated Big East team is ignored for the title game, doesn't that kind of shoot the whole "BCS Conference" standing of the Big East? If there are two indefeated BCS schools, shouldn't they play for the title?

If either Florida or Auburn wins out, I sure hope that's whe team we get to play.

Outside of playing each other, if Louisville's claim to fame is beating Miami and WV's is their potential victory over Rutgers, I'm sorry, but neither of those two teams deserve to play for the National Title. Sure, nobody outside of ourselves believed that we deserved a top two ranking back in 2002 either, but correct me if I'm wrong, we did knock of a top 10 WaST team led by a Heisman candidate at QB, a top 25 TT team led by a Heisman candidate at QB, a top 25 Wisconsin team, a top 25 PSU team, and a top 10 Michigan team.

Teams should not be rewarded with mediocrity, period. Unless you schedule top 25 opponents out of conference, you should not be rewarded with beating up (or in UL's case, sequeezing by victories) over the likes of Cincy and Syracuse.
