2005 Pre-Season Chatter

keep in mind that even though his acceleration is amazing...it is his second and third gear that seperates him from everyone else...I like the idea of the end around option because even if the LB's see it coming they aren't fast enough to stop him...whereas with a direct snap he doesn't really get a chance to use his breakaway speed

... but why do it from under cneter when the D can get a second to think about it... I think an End around option is far more likely... or a lateral then pass.

Bingo. I can see a Ginn pass or two this year coming off an end-around or lateral.

I'll bet you 500 vCash that Ginn doesn't take a snap this year...not one.
we talking from under center, shotgun, or period? im saying there will be at least 1 direct exchange from center to ginn. *shrug* ill put 100 vcash on it. i would be a little dissapointed if it didn't happen again.

Any snap which has Ginn lined up specifically at QB, so either under center or shotgun. Now, if he's in the backfield in a position other than at QB and they direct snap it to him, that doesn't count. You're on for 100 vCash.

Can I get in on that action? I'll bet you 1500 v cash Ginn does take at least one snap (under center or shotginn). They will do a variation of lasts years play (Ginn going up the middle) or Ginn will line up at center with Troy Smith going wide. Milli there's no doubt that Tressel has a few trick plays with Ginn at QB and I guarantee he will use one of those plays once. Ginn is such a dynamic talent, I can't imagine him not getting a chance at QB for some type of gimic play. Also don't forget that Ginn played some QB in high school.

So are we on?

The key to this season will be putting the ball in Ginn's hands. I think they'll do whatever it takes to get him 12-15 touches per game.

I believe there will be at least one play where he takes an end around, or direct snap, rolls toward the sideline and tosses a long TD pass to a streaking WR. (Had the Alamo Bowl not been such a blow-out, I think you would've seen it then.) I think the opposing defenses are going to be so pre-occupied with stopping him that they'll forget about the other weapons we have.

things you can do with a guy like ginn. to not do them is criminal.
I think a lot of people forget that Tressel is still the Commander-in-Chief. I don't see any double-reverses in Ohio State's playbook this year, and I don't see Ginn coming out of the backfield very often. I don't see him taking many snaps at quarterback.

However, I'd like to go in for 100 vcash, betting that he will take at least one snap at quarterback this year. I think that even JT can't avoid putting him in there at least once all season.

i think you will see ginn on reverses and direct snaps throughout the year in various amounts. i doubt you will see a direct snap per game. but 3 to 5 in the year is believeable. but you won't see him throw the ball until the scum game. with his type of speed, if you see him on a reverse... how many safties/cb's you think are going to play their position? it would be so easy for a guy like gonzo or one of the te's to run down the field disturbingly open on a play like that.

a double reverse to holmes would be interesting. but i think we will without question see fake reverses to ginn for handoff plays up the middle. seeing ginn streak towards the qb from the wr spot would freeze the lb's and safties in their tracks.

i haven't thought about it until now but... has there been at least 1 ginn reverse in every game since msu? i can't remember every game and i don't have purdue or scum on tape. anyone remember?

I have 500 available to bet. If you want to put 1500 to my 500, go for it.

How bout this. If you win the bet, you get 1500 from me. If I win the bet, you have to change your name to Labia minora for 1 month.

How about this: If you win, I change my name to "goodguyrules" for a month. If I win, you change you name to "I'm a spineless fuck who leaves anonymous dings".
