2005-2006 Latest Men's Basketball Rankings (Currently #6)

I continue to believe that if we win out through the B11 tourney and are 26-4, that we should be a one-seed. We probably won't be, but any discussion of Gonzaga being ahead of tOSU really frosts me. They have some really thin wins against some conference foes that would struggle against Otterbein. Theirs is a glorified Division III league.

The only teams that arguably are better than the Buckeyes at this moment are:

Dook
UConn
Memphis
Tennessee
Nova

Thus the Buckeyes are presently 6th nationally in the MaxBuck poll.:oh: :io:

I think you are clearly underestimating Gonzaga. They are a very very good team.

They beat Maryland, MSU in double OT, and then after that game they played UCONN the next day and battled them to with in 2 pts.

Also their other two tough games were on the road and they played very tough against Memphis and Washington, which are two very tough places to play.

I know who cares about a glorified loss, but none of their losses have been bad losses. They have losses to 2 teams that are sitting in good position for number 1 seeds and 1 at Washington top 20 team and it is very hard to play there.

I know they have had tough games in conference, but in a way it is probabaly hard for them to go out and just pound teams every night. Also some of the teams in that conference are no pushovers.

They also didnt have any big names come and play them at home.

They have done everything that could be asked of them, besides win the 3 games they lost.

Could we beat them, well hell yeah, but Morrison woudl be one helluva a tough matchup and he sure as hell isnt the only player they have. The have teh big guy Bautista and their pg is a stud too. He can shoot it from anywhere. I believe his name is Ravio.

We should be ranked top 10 no doubt about it, what number specifically I don't know.

What I do know is that we are 2 very winnable games away from a B10 title, the #1 seed in the B10 tourney and at least a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney which more than likely means a Sweet 16 at worst.

Also, to quote "Patches" O'Hoolihan we've taken scUM by the haunches and humped them into submission across the board this year. Great days to be a Buckeye.

Tennessee still seems to be above us in the RPI (http://www.kenpom.com/rpi.php), ostensibly due to their higher SOS at #4 versus our #19 (which is nothing to sneeze at). Our SOS will take a bit of a knock now, as Northwestern and Purdue, especially, are not highly rated.

Still, if anyone told you this team would be talking about a #5 or #6 RPI at year end, would you have believed it?

NFM...I guess HTML isn't supported in this forum.
Yeah...i noticed that yesterday doing the same thing.

My guess is that we are 8th. Our RPI being 5th is really nice. Obviously we are a solid 2 seed right now. Nothing wrong with being the best 2 seed and playing the first and second game in Dayton.

Not that it really matters, but www.realtimerpi.com has Ohio State ranked at #4 and going up.

I still like them being the best #2 seed and playing in Dayton. That would give us the weakest #1 seed who would be either Villanova or Memphis. Two teams that we match up really well with. I really would like the match up with Villanova, I think Dials would dominate inside and our guards match up well defensively with Ray, Fowe, and Lowry.
