Game Thread (2004) Game Seven: Indiana - 10/23/04 (W, 4-3/1-3)

Cincy I agree and may have had my own kneejerk reaction.

There has just been a line drawn in the sand by too many posters and I refuse to join one "camp" or the other.

If I misread your intent, I apologize.

Football should be the only issue in this QB deal and I am sad to say that isn't the case with many of the posters

Exactly my position. I must have read too much into your (Cincy) agreeing with StadiumDorm. I still don't agree even a little bit that I'm (or anyone) is saying that Smith can't take positives away from this game, or that we as fans can't take positives away from this game. My position is only that we can't read too much into it.

Some OSU fans are amongst the worst I've seen about reading too much into everything. Everyone who hasn't played yet is always going to be the best player who has never played, they're always going to put people up on such a high pedestal, that there's nowhere to go but down. Not *all* fans, but the ones who are like that are real disasters, and unfortunately, their idiocy pollutes what the rest of us say.

I've actually seen the o-line fire off the ball a couple of plays today.
That is one of those comparisons that you have to make... we've been up against a lot of TOUGH defenses this year... this however, is not one of them. And we see it in the running game and passing game.

Can you please show me where I've ever mentioned that Smith would be our savior if he has a good game today?

You haven't. Didn't say you had.

Now we're both misunderstanding one another. We're on the same page. Our page isn't the same page as others. There are obviously people who are overzealous in their praise of either Smith or Zwick.

Ok.. a good half of football. Some definite flashes from our younger players along with a couple mistakes (expected). The thing that has impressed me the most is Troy's poise. For a first start he has really looked comfortable and confident.

The whole team seems to be showing a greater sense of urgency and velocity. Nice to see after the performance the last couple weeks.

Penalties and poor tackling are killing us. Especially on IU's touchdown drive. Hopefully we fix that.

Overall good first half

Good first half but I am amazed on how our D line is weak. Every run seemed to be 4+ yards.

Boy I would love to see some counter motion plays for the O. Hell I would like TS faking the hand off and rolling against the grain.

I also thought the play calling on the 2 min drill sucked.

I think overall we're looking better than I expected even against Indiana. At least I see some emotion.

side note:
Nugent may officially become my all time favorite Buckeye when it's all said and done. His brother plays OSU soccer IIRC. Maybe he'd like to walk on next year. :)
