Does that help or hurt us? If they allow a ton of holding that doesn't bode well for Chase and our defensive line.
Chase gets held in every game....and it has been that way for 3 years. This narrative that the reason he isn't getting 3 sacks a game because they're holding is getting old. He got neutralized against Michigan. They held him like twice.....other than that they ran away from him or tripled him. He got a bit closer against Wisconsin, but they apparently learned that blocking him with a TE and dropping back 5 steps is probably not smart.

He's going to get held against Clemson, too. It's up to him if he wants to have a game like Wisconsin 1/Penn St or not. Or....more importantly....it's up to the rest of the line if they want to take advantage of the triple teams that Chase is going to get. The fact that everybody else didn't each get 2 sacks against Michigan is what I'm more upset with. If that happens, they're going to be forced to try to block him straight up.

If we as Ohio State fans aren't used to the other team getting away with holding, I don't know what to tell you. It's been going on since Tressel.

The rest of the DL needs to step up.Cornell was a beast in the 2nd half. I thought Zack out played Smith..

I’m thinking this game is going to be your typical struggle for 2 quarters, then Ohio State starts to grind in the third. My initial (biased) prediction was 34-10, but I’m thinking it’s going to be close to 27-17 good guys. Offense is too much for Clemson’s D to handle. And they don’t have the type of offense this year to trade TDs. Etienne will be good, but I don’t think he can be the difference.

Exactly this. The last couple games, the rest of the DL needs to step up if they are truly the best and not just a one man show. If Chase has 2-3 guys focused on him, others have to make plays. Thought Cornell did a nice job against Wisconsin. I didn't see anyone else do much against ttun, which was frustrating.

Yes. To all of this. Chase will likely get doubled or tripled. If so, the rest of the D line better shine be other opportunities are there when that happens. Chances that we lose because Chase is getting held with no call are slim.

I lay blame for the 21013 loss squarely on Urban. He left a clearly hurt Braxton Miller in on the last drive while the gunslinger, Kenny Guiton, rode the bench. :smash:

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall the Bucks having a 9 point lead in the second half when (Philly Brown?) fumbled a punt away. A few plays later they scored and the game changed.

Yeah, I was yelling 'fair catch it' even before it was kicked. Just like I did before Santonio Holmes decided to do the same thing and let NC State get into OT. :smash::smash:

Agree that the rest of the DL has to step up. I hope that a well rested Chase returns to Wisky Vol. 1 or PSU form, but if a team is focused on eliminating him from the game, not sure it will matter. Can't wait till the 2nd half to have a response to the slants and triple teams. They're just going to have to blitz more often from start to finish, or at times have a spy for Lawrence who can act as a 5th rusher.

Surprised that Friday and Smith haven't made more noise. They flashed a few times this year, but other than Harrison, none of the DEs have done much the last 3 games.
