#17 Ohio State 94, #22 Michigan 85 (final)

not with our lack of depth, no. I just do not think we have a very good replacement for Butler either (he is coming). I think Foster is an excellent guard, I just think he belongs at the 2.

True to everything you just said. There isn't another point guard on this team. But there are ball handlers, so we could survive. I'm just glad we have both and don't have to worry about it.

If you want to base it on last night, sure Butler was the better and more important player. But it was an aberration against a team that Dials does not match up well against, and against a team that defends the three pointer very poorly.

I think Butler is a terrific player and vital to this team's success, but can you honestly say that if you had to give up either Dials or Jamar, you would choose to give up the big man?

While we woud get dominated down low, not having Butler takes away from the whole team, it forces Foster to have to play the point and then he doesnt get the points we need him to get, and then puts Lewis in the starting lineup and then we don't have a bench.

I think they are both intrical parts of the team, but at this stage in college bball PG's are the ones on the team that lead you to championships, b/c if you don't have that you don't get the ball to the big guy.

Now in a couple years when there are more Big guys b/c of the NBA age limit, this might be a little different answer.

vrbryant--
great post . I was wondering about that. Slyvester won or helped big time sinking some great shots of a few games.

I hope all fans now he's playing out of position. and doing what he can do as the job as an PF suppose to do

I know a posted Butler will be the starting PG the next 2 years and the way his game is really coming along should have proved that to those who thing the new player conley has the job. the day he comes in.
Remember Butler was considered a highly ranked PG recruit just like conley is this year. Also. look how the offense is set up at ohio state with the scoring mostly being done from all outsiders. Foster plays like another PG/2G for them.

The buckeyes have so many options to score from outside and thats why we never know who was the main man this game. This game was BUTLERS , next game who knows.

People like to criticize and theorize, but who at the beginning of the season wouldn't have taken a 17-3 record, 2nd place in conference, and a top-20 ranking after the first 20 games? Just keep that in mind...

Funny thing is, if you go back 4-5 games and look at the threads (before Syl's most recent shooting slump), you see shit like, "Syl's so clutch! He's really carrying this team in a big way!" Don't know why I'm saying it again, except to just put it into fewer words: Conjecture is pointless. What is to gain from jabbering about what you would do with the team? Does anyone here really believe that they're going to convince anyone? Of anything? Matta comes in, and he wins, and wins, and wins. And you still don't trust him. Boggles my fucking mind.

Syl's clutchness is just part of his jekyll/hyde game. When I say he's frustrating, I don't mean to say he's bad; when a player is getting a lot of PT even though he does some terrible things, it's pretty obvious that he does some great things as well. I guess I just wish he'd focus more on his passing, which is quite good, and a bit less on making 1-on-1 moves, even if it is against the other team's 4, or jacking up 3's at terrible times.

Believe me, I trust Matta. So much so that it makes you wonder about Ivan Harris; why can't he earn more minutes? He's one of the more talented players on the team--in the end, I think he's just soft. Matta won't stand for it.
