Lincoln defensive tackle Thomas Holley shares recruiting process with fellow Railsplitter Isaiah Whitehead, one of top basketball players in NYC
Holley, a 6-4, 300-pound lineman, has played only one season of football but is top-ranked player in state. He spends much of his time in Whitehead's home in Coney Island.

To avoid the nearly two hour commute from his school to his home in Fresh Meadows, Lincoln defensive tackle Thomas Holley crashes at a friend’s home in Coney Island, where the discussions are often about more than what’s for dinner.
While Holley is the top-rated high school football player in the state, his Coney Island host — Isaiah Whitehead — is one of New York’s top basketball players, and both are using the final months of 2013 to pick a college. The two leaned on each other to win the PSAL city championship in basketball last season, and they have spent many nights at Whitehead’s home, discussing the recruiting process and trying to guess where the other might go.
“He’s a tough cookie to crack," the 6-4, 300-pound Holley says of Whitehead. “I’ve been trying to see where he’s going. He won’t tell me. But before (he announces), I’ll know. He’ll tell me.”
And Holley will likely tell Whitehead, too. It’s just one of the cool circumstances that surround Holley as he picks a school – his decision could be influenced in some way by the talented Whitehead.
The other noteable thing about Holley is that he just started playing organized football as a junior at Lincoln, missing the entire preseason and first three games of last season after transferring from Christ the King. Despite his limited experience, Holley already has up to 25 BCS-level offers, with Syracuse and Miami the two schools that both he and Whitehead have expressed strong interest in.
“He thinks I’m already signed, sealed and delivered,” Whitehead says, adding that he believes Holley will attend either Alabama or Syracuse. “But I really don’t know where I’m going. He gives me hints that one school called him and gave him love. It’s just a great friendship that we’ve had since we’ve been kids.”
