'13 PA OT Dorian Johnson (Pitt Verbal)

On the surface it should seem like an easy decision for him to pick osu but there are always intangibles for recruits besides winning, which is weird and sucks. This article is about James quick but can be applied to Johnson as well. Some kids just want to stay home and play for decent teams as opposed to classically great teams:

And I'm not completely saying Johnson is done with osu but it seems like we're in 2nd place at this point. I, like many of you, are hoping he picks osu in the end. Because rational thinking sees osu having a much better season than Pitt. Hopefully that can lead Dorian our way, if not, then don't be too surprised

Chryst is revered as a play caller. He has never specifically been an OL coach, however.

Maybe, but it might be that Bob Bostad is the guy who really deserves the credit for Wiscy's OL and offensive success in general.

He was the OL Coach at Wiscy and initially followed Chryst to Pitt, but then was offered a job on Schiano's NFL staff in Tampa. I've heard that he's off to a great start down in Tampa and it looks like their plan down there is to try to build around his OL and the power running game, both of which looked good in week 1.

One of the more interesting things I have heard Urban say since he was hired was when he listed the most important hires that a head coach has to make. He had S&C coach #1, then OL coach #2 ahead of D Coordinator and O Coordinator.

I don't know anything about Pitt's current OL coach, but the fact that Bostad left has to be seen as a positive in our favor and I think there is a definite possibility that Chryst (and Bielema for that matter) may be exposed a bit without him.

While the 2014 recruiting class is barreling down the tracks at record speed, there are still some big targets left on the 2013 list. One of the most coveted is 6-6, 280-pound offensive lineman Dorian Johnson out of Belle Vernon, Pa.

Johnson is a 4-star rated recruit by ESPN, Rivals and Scout, while 247 Sports has him rated as a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 offensive tackle recruit in the country. He was previously committed to Penn State but de-committed after the NCAA slammed the Nittany Lions with scholarship reductions and a four-year bowl ban.

With Ohio State low on offensive linemen for 2013, and Johnson being one of the most highly-rated prospects left on the board, Urban Meyer and his staff will work hard to recruit Johnson to Columbus.

It has been rumored that Pitt leads for Johnson since his de-commitment, while the Buckeyes appear to be in the mix. Are the rumors true? Do the Buckeyes have a chance at this Keystone giant? Is this a two horse race? He recently took time to answer questions from The-Ozone.

As has been mentioned several times, he committed to Penn State which is the same distance from his home as tOSU. While proximity may be a factor, IMO it is not what is causing him to lean toward Pitt. It is far more likely that his relationship with the coaches and some players/commits has them in the lead.

We can sell winning and the NFL far better than Pitt. In the end, it comes down to what Mr. Johnson values the most.

And that near commitment to Chernobyl has him thinking more about staying close to home. Like 30 minutes close. Comfortable. I still like our chances but he seems like a Pitt lean to me. I think landing a kid like this comes down to who he forms a relationship with more than facilities, tradition, etc. If he doesn't feel really comfortable he isn't leaving home. That's simply my impression anyway.

Yes! Just get mom on campus and have them talk to Urban and Warinner.
We now have a fine offensive line coach who will make kids ready for the NFL.
It's a new ball game with developing offensive line players ready for the NFL.
