OT Dorian Johnson loved Ohio State

By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Offensive tackle Dorian Johnson (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) liked his experience at Ohio State so much, the ESPN 150 recruit would like to make another trip to The Horseshoe in a few weeks.

In town Saturday for the Buckeyes? 63-38 win over Nebraska, Johnson -- who is ranked second in the nation at his position and No. 27 overall -- has already started talking about coming back on Nov. 24 for the Michigan game. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Johnson isn?t sure whether or not it will be an official visit, but he knows he wants to see the campus again.

?I actually talked to the coaches the other day about coming up for it,? Johnson said. ?Me and my family are going to try and come up for that game.?

If we haven't moved at least even with Pitt after that game, it's hard to envision a scenario in which we could pass them. He sounds like he's really taking his time now after the Penn State situation and that's commendable. But Ohio State is on the outside looking in here.

Agree. It clearly is not all about game time atmosphere for this kid.

That's if you put stock into quotes to strangers, particularly ones that make up dozens that contact him weekly (if not daily/hourly) for updates from every website under the sun. That's a pretty questionable approach.

Teams are rarely even, nor are there usually 5-10 schools with a true shot at a kid.

They have been. Pitt's been the team to beat. That's old news. But his recruitment is not over, by any means. His visit this weekend opened his eyes (and how could it not with that atmosphere?!) and he's planning another trip to campus... with his family. Visiting with family is always a huge deal in recruiting, but when another team is #1 because of it being closer to home, it makes it even bigger. If this is another unofficial visit (he's undecided at this point), we could expect to see him come back for a third time for an official.

Yes, Pitt leads, but there is much more reason for optimism rather than "doom and gloom" in the future regarding his recruitment right now. We've gained momentum with him.
