While Ohio State has a chance to land Cox, Meyer and his staff unsuccessfully tried to make inroads with another WPIAL star who already has made a college decision. Hopewell running back Rushel Shell committed to Pitt in October. Shell said an Ohio State assistant coach had been trying to get in touch with him, but Shell never talked to the coach.
Shell said he let Hopewell coach Dave Vestal and athletic director Don Short relay a message to the Ohio State staff that Shell had no interest in the Buckeyes, even with Meyer.

I knew Meyer would try and get in on Shell, but I think Shell's made the best decision for his personal life (child) and also career. Pitt has been an absolute factory for runningbacks going to the league recently. He's certainly going to be featured there.
I've been watching his recruitment since he was a freshman, can't believe it's already time for him to sign. Best of luck to him.
