Seems like it is all Pitt or Bama for him right now, and that is a little puzzling to me because he is one of, if not the most talented RB prospects in this class.
"(The violations) took a big toll on my recruiting plans," Shell said. "I probably would have ended up at Ohio State if they hadn't got in trouble. But they got in trouble, so I've got my new team."

He's apparently made a decision but won't tell anybody until Oct 14th. There's also this:
Sounds like an excuse, not a reason. I wouldn't expect many big names to seriously consider tOSU until the coaching situation is resolved, anyway...Taosman;1968515; said:He could always change his mind after hearing the news.

Pitt likely pick for Shell
Sources say Hopewell RB will commit to Panthers at news conference Friday

Pitt coach Todd Graham might not need coffee to get going early Friday morning. Rushel Shell is expected to deliver Graham some uplifting news.
Shell, a senior halfback at Hopewell High School, will have a news conference at 8 a.m. to announce his college choice, and sources close to his recruiting say it will be Pitt.
Shell, who became the WPIAL's all-time leading rusher this season, said he made his college choice this summer but didn't want to make it public. Alabama was his other finalist.
If Shell makes a verbal commitment to Pitt, it will be a huge boost for the Panthers and their first-year coach. Shell is ranked among the top running backs in the country by scouting services. Scout.com ranks him No. 4 and Rivals.com No. 5.
While sources say it's Pitt, there are other indications that Shell is choosing the Panthers. For one, Shell has visited Pitt a number of times, yet has never been to Alabama.
Shell originally said he would announce his college decision Friday night on ESPNU because the station is carrying the Hopewell at Central Valley game at 6 p.m. But Shell decided Wednesday to have a morning news conference to announce his choice.
