'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

So why have the Irish offered Devin Gardner? He's clearly not the prototypical drop back passer. Are they thinking more ATH then QB?

Our coaches tried pitching Pryor on WR. Yes, I laughed too.

I wouldn't put that past them with regards to Gardner.

High school football: Celebrity High has sons of Hall of Famers, movie star

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Coaching a budding football star is one thing, but Bill Redell found himself dealing with sons of superstars when practice opened last August at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, Calif.

On his high school roster were junior quarterback Nick Montana, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana; sophomore quarterback Trevor Gretzky, son of hockey great Wayne Gretzky; and sophomore receiver Trey Smith, son of movie star Will Smith.

"The first week we had Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, and some of those out at our practices, then it calmed down," Redell said. "But it's interesting."

By A Jardy at the Ohio State site. Montana calls his visit to Columbus great, but didn't get to meet Coach Tressel as he was out of town. He says that Ohio State was different from California, but thinks thats what would make it fun. He will spend the next two days at Texas.

Awww

The visit was unofficial, correct? I know they'll meet, but that's still a bummer. :tongue2:

This is not me jumping from a cliff. If it sounds that way, it is certainly not intended. I don't think it will have anything to do with Nick's future decision.

... But observers said Nick Montana, already offered a scholarship by OSU and several other schools, seemed to enjoy his visit, even commenting that he thought the Woody Hayes Athletic Center surpassed any pro football training facility he had seen. His mother was said to be impressed with, among other things, the academic support services available to student athletes....

It will be interesting to see what he says after visiting Texas. Mack Brown is a fantastic recruiter. great academics, on field success takes a back seat to no one, and I'm sure their facilities are top notch as well.

who has he visited besides tOSU so far?

Tennessee for sure, don't know if anyone else. Well, ND presumably.

Yes, but can he address adding one of the top QB's in the country in '09, already landing Case McCoy in '10, and also heavily pursuing another QB in this class that already has an offer?

The fact that we have targeted him as THE QB recruit in this class will hopefully go a loooong way in bringing him to Columbus. That seems to be what draws a lot of recruits, especially QB's, to a program. Just ask Kevin Newsome.:wink2:
