'09 TN WR Marlon Brown (Georgia Signee)

Rivals $

9/24

From VolQuest....Talks about his unofficial for the Tennessee-Florida game this past weekend and about his interest in Tennessee. Will be visiting Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, LSU & Tennessee officially. Says he is still wide open at this point to the schools that he plans on visiting and is in no hurry to make a decision.

I like our '09 recruit recievers a great deal more than the rating services, but if there is a real interest in MB coming to Columbus, (if so, I have to believe that this one is being particularly fueled by Mr. TPryor), then how do you not make room for a 6-5 speed merchant with athletic skills off the charts...if he wants to come?

If he is trying to persuade him, then TP certainly didn't hurt his cause by his performance last Saturday...and I have to believe MB took notice. I have read that they do communicate, so I would have to say that we have a chance at the very least.

Sounds like this kid could possibly be a Dwayne Jarret type WR which would be great. OSU hasn't really had a big, physical WR since Jenkins/Boston and both set records and are considered all timers.

Also, I've heard that his speed isn't that great form other forums. I've seen film on the kid and he looks very impressive in the way he moves after the catch and seems to have good to great speed. Anyone know for sure?

Whatever his speed, it's sure to diminish if he decides to leave SEC country.

Remember we do have Jake Stoneburner on board now. But, I would love to see MB wear the scarlet and gray as well.

Marlon Brown is a player that would be a huge pick up for our team but he would not come in and make a big impact his freshman year. His athleticism is tops but his skill level is very raw and that is evident in his recruiting video. Give him a year or two with our coaches, and he could be a star! I must say, if we pick him up, our receivers will be loaded for the next couple of years.

I agree.

I also think he eventually grows into a TE, ala Fred Davis...

Over on TOS, a man that has spoken with Marlon on numerous occasions said that Marlon is not so high on Florida and LSU but very high on Georgia, OSU, and Tennessee. I think that once we get him here on a visit, and he hangs out with TP and those guys while his Mom meets Tressel, it will be game over, money in the back. Could just be wishful thinking though...
