Wide receiver
Marlon Brown (Memphis, Tenn./Harding) continues to set official visits for the season. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Under Armour All-American has added a stop in Columbus, Ohio to his list of trips he will take this fall. Brown will take an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Oct. 11 when the Buckeyes play host to Purdue.
"Honestly, I like their coaches," Brown said. "I like (Ohio State head coach) Jim Tressel and they have a great program."
Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, LSU and Southern California join the Buckeyes in Brown's top six. He has already scheduled an official visit to UGA (Sept. 26, when the Bulldogs play Alabama) and plans to head to Baton Rouge for a game (perhaps unofficially) this season as well.
Brown added that the Gators, Trojans and Vols currently are in line to get official visits from him, but he does not know when they will be scheduled.
"I am going to take some in December and some in January," Brown said. "I want to take all of my visits and I don't know when I am going to decide."
The visit to Athens already scheduled, Brown talked about what he sees in Georgia.
"They are a real young team and I like that about them," Brown said. "I feel like they are amazing already and if I were to come in and do my part, then I could help them get even better."
He added that he has been in touch with UGA quarterback commitments
Aaron Murray (Tampa, Fla./Plant) and
Zach Mettenberger (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County).
Many believe the Vols have the inside track. Ace recruiter Stan Drayton has done a good job building a relationship with the talented pass catcher.
"He's a real cool guy," Brown said. "He is down to earth and easy to talk to."
Brown likes the offenses at both Florida and USC.
The nation's No. 17 overall prospect has gotten off to a good start this season, scoring two touchdowns (plus one that was called back) and totaling 160 all-purpose yards in a 21-9 win over St. Benedict's (Tenn.).
