I think this recent update provides some legs to the rumor that Watt is looking around. If i understand this correctly, isn't it true that our coaches would not re-invest in a committed player to another school, ONLY and only if, the player initiate the contact? I don't have premium info, but, judging by the title of the above listed article, "
Buckeyes Stop by Chris Watt's School", it tells me that SOMEHOW, SOME WAY, our coaches are given the impression that Watt's is openning up his recruitment. I have faith in our coaches and their integrity in their position. Personally, I don't believe that Coach Tress would even consider to contact Watt if the interest is not mutual.
However, I don't know why Watt would be quoted saying that he is still very much committed to ND. Perhaps, he does not want to stir up a ripple unless he absolutely has to. Well, all is just speculation.
I hope we get Watt. Our O-line's lack luster performance this year is not by coincidence. Of course, Bollman should get some of the blame, imo, BUT, as someone has pointed out in other threads, all is for naught when we don't have the talents there to execute the game plan. Our O-line recruiting for the past 3-4 years (barring last year) had been slightly above average, IMHO. We did not reel in top talents, talents that compliment TOSU's caliber. Yes, there are ALWAYS going to be some diamonds in the rough (namely: AJ, Malcolm, Chimdi...etc), but they are rare. Very rare. At any rate, we would most DEFINITELY be benefited to have Watt's talent in this class.
I am officially off my soap box.
