'08 WV OL Josh Jenkins (West Virginia Signee)

Are you serious? You know this is a "football recruiting" forum right? Besides, wouldn't an opinion about a players ability on the field not fall into the speculation category? I speculate that you want us to speculate on the same speculation you speculate on and find frustration with your speculation when it doesn't co-speculate with the current speculation... If I'm speculating correctly.

That being said I have a cousin from West Virginia who lives next door to Josh's Aunt and she says he's going to Boise State.

:box:

1) You should try reading the forum rules....

2) spec?u?late To engage in a course of reasoning often based on inconclusive evidence

Only one person in this world is Josh Jenkins...only he knows where he is going...anyone one else's opinion is just speculation.

Which leads to this...discussing opinion on a recruits talent is not...since video, measurables, and documented on-the-field performence are concrete evidence of a players talents.

I was attempting to help reduce the number of posts that fall under the category of "useless," which you made light of in your response.

Ok...now to the main part of my message:
I was looking at his film again and I noticed a tendency to "catch" the outside pass rush as a junior....not as a senior though, he has improved a lot in that regard.

I honestly could see him being a good Center if Brewster were to move to tackle due to injury.

I understand what you are saying but part of the fun of following the recruitment process is the "speculation" that goes into where each player ultimately ends up going. I guess I don't understand what the big deal is... Honestly, there would 2 posts on this thread if every posting had to meet your requirements for a useful post.

Thanks for the definition.

Jenkins wins Hunt Award as state's top lineman
By DAVE POE

The Parkersburg News

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- For the second straight year, Parkersburg High School lineman Josh Jenkins is the winner of the Hunt Award, presented annually to West Virginia's top high school lineman.

Jenkins, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound senior, is the first player in Mountain State history to win the award twice.

His selection by the all-state football committee of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association was unanimous. Other players considered included Cole Messenger of University, Josh Knicely of Bridgeprot and Andrew Brewer of Cabell Midland.

The Hunt Award caps what has been a historic senior season for Jenkins, who has verbally committed to continue his football career at West Virginia University, a commitment he reiterated following Sunday's departure of Mountaineer coach Rich Rodriguez.

With Jenkins anchoring both the offensive and defensive lines, Parkersburg High School accomplished the first back-to-back state football championships in its 103-year history, defeating St. Albans, 22-15, in the Class AAA title game on Dec. 1.

On Sunday, Jenkins was recognized by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association as a first team all-state lineman, the third consecutive year he has been bestowed that honor. That makes him only the second three-time all-state selection in Parkersburg High School history, joining the legendary Ross McHenry, a Big Red lineman on the 1920, 1921 and 1922 teams. McHenry went on to star at West Virginia University, representing the Mountaineers in the East-West Shrine Game.

Shortly after the conclusion of the football season, Jenkins was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year.

In January, Jenkins will become the first West Virginia high school player to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The game will be nationally televised by NBC.

All year long, he has been the subject of a red-hot recruiting battle involving virtually every major college football program in America. When asked to list the schools that haven't offered Jenkins, PHS assistant coach Mark McCullough -- who is guiding Jenkins through the recruiting process -- explains it this way, "Southern Cal and Texas haven't.''

In other words, everybody else has.

Despite all the attention, Jenkins has remained humble. He said all season long his No. 1 goal was to help PHS win back-to-back state titles. Whatever honors followed that accomplishment would be great, but hoisting that championship trophy would be the highlight of the year.

Jenkins credited his coaches and his teammates for his success.

"It a good feeling to win the Hunt Award two times in a row,'' Jenkins said. "Although my name is on the award, this is a team honor I couldn't have accomplished without a lot of help.''

WVU football recruits re-thinking options
By From staff reports

The program's two top recruits -- quarterback Terrell Pryor from Monroeville, Pa., and Parkersburg High School guard Josh Jenkins -- are both on the fence. Pryor, in fact, was told by Rodriguez of the coach's plans before anyone in the media or even his own team and now former bosses at WVU.

Jenkins' story is slightly different from Pryor's though his potential defection from a verbal commitment could be more damaging.

The senior offensive lineman, who today became the first player in state history to win back-to-back Hunt Awards, made a verbal commitment to the Mountaineers last year. However, Jenkins has continued to take campus visits to other schools, most notably Ohio State and Florida.

Parkersburg assistant coach Mark McCullough said last week that West Virginia and Ohio State were Jenkins' top two choices, though the player was not going to make a final decision yet. McCullough said that Jenkins' choice would be announced after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 5.

Jenkins stopped talking to the media two months ago when repeated calls to his cell phone began to interfere with his studies.

Rodriguez's move may weigh heavily on Jenkins' mind.

Sources said Jenkins was contacted by former West Virginia recruiting director and Rodriguez assistant Tony Gibson on Sunday. Gibson reportedly asked Jenkins to pull out of his commitment to West Virginia and join Rodriguez's new regime in Ann Arbor.

The Parkersburg News reported the development in Jenkins' recruitment on Monday.

"Josh is going to do what's best for him," McCullough said last week, before Rodriguez's change of heart. "There's a lot more to it than football. Josh has to make his decision as to what school is going to best fit what he needs as far as academics and prepare him for the world after football."

I havent been able to get much information regarding Jenkins studies, and rightfully so. That said, would Josh still be in line to graduate early and join the Bucks for the Spring/Winter quarter?

Recruit uncertain about committing to post-Rodriguez WVU

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Rich Rodriguez's departure from West Virginia has at least one state recruit sitting on the fence.

Repeat Hunt Award winner Josh Jenkins says he's going to see who replaces Rodriguez before making a final decision on whether to play football in Morgantown.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Parkersburg High senior is considered West Virginia's best prep lineman and is the first player to win the Hunt Award twice.

Jenkins says he is considering Ohio State and Florida State, and recently started talking to Pitt and Penn State.

From what the Charleston newspaper report, it appears Josh doesn't have any desire to even hear the word michigan. It was never on his radar and never in his consideration. It sounds that he figured out that richrod and his staff do what is good for them and then try to sweet talk Josh and others as though they own them and try and strongarm them. These kids need to live their dream and do what is best for them instead of being whipsawed by richrod and his staff.

'Dog, this just isn't right.'
