'08 WV OL Josh Jenkins (West Virginia Signee)

I'm thinking that maybe Josh Jenkins is being cautious right now. His decision might be depending on Terrelle Pryor.

If Pryor commits to Ohio State, I could see Josh Jenkins being more confident in OSU than WVU. However, if Pryor chooses WVU, it's probably painfully obvious that Jenkins would like to play for WVU more than OSU.

Anyone would be excited to have a chance to play with Pryor. He seems to be an awesome person as well.

Though this theory sounds interesting, I don't think if OSU didn't get Pryor there would be any lack of talent @ OSU without him in this class. The talent the bucks have outside of their 2-deep is better than a lot of the starters on WVU. Where are you going to find a team with 3 other studs coming in the same year to possibly become one of the best college O-lines ever assembled? I don't think Pryor is as much of a factor as leaving home. Obviously, the kid is attached to his hometown. Leaving home for school is always a tough decision despite OSU's proximity. But he's also built quite a friendship with some of the OSU recruits/commits. It does seem odd that if you are still a WVU commit, there would be no reason to wait til signing day to announce unless it was different than how things stand currently. Usually in these situations, the longer the process goes, the more it favors the hometown school. But in this case, just a hunch, if we go that long without an answer, it only favors the Buckeyes in the end.

People don't set deadlines to make announcements that nothing has changed. He is either still committed to WVU, so there is clearly no reason that he would need to announce such in 2 months, or he is no longer committed to WVU, in which case there would be a reason to announce something on LOI day. Clearly, this is the latter case.

Waiting until signing day is better for the Bucks. Why would he wait to commit to WVU? Yet is he chooses the Bucks waiting until signing day would minimize the amount of time he has to deal with backlash from WV fans.

Maybe he is waiting to see how each class pans out, but that is still not a bad thing for OSU.

I'm not sure that waiting until signing day is better for the Bucks. Signing day doesn't give the coaches any time to make an offer to another prospect if they lose out. I certainly don't blame Josh Jenkins for waiting, but either WV or OSU will be disappointed.

On the other hand, if you mean that waiting until signing day gives the appearance that the Bucks have a better shot, I agree. Of course the negative to that is that doesn't afford WV much time to offer another prospect.

You can always sign folks after signing day.

Nebraska? :yow1:

Yeah didn't you know he's just taking visits for the heck of it to all of the exotic locales around the country. Columbus, Ohio. Lincoln, Nebraska. Etc. He's not interested in actually checking these schools out. Well that's at least what some fans of another team would have you believe.

It's a token look at Nebraska, IMO. Carl Pelini (Bo's brother) is the DL coach at Ohio University, where Josh's brother goes to school. Nothing worth worrying about...

Recruiting war heating up for Parkersburg's Jenkins
By Derek Taylor
Daily Mail sportswriter
Josh Jenkins' plans are getting about as difficult to decipher as the DaVinci Code.

The Parkersburg High School offensive lineman gave a verbal commitment to West Virginia last year. However, offers from several different high-profile programs continued to filter through to the 6-foot-3, 305-pound All-Stater and All-American who is considered to be one of the top five prospects in the nation at the guard position.

Over time, Jenkins' commitment level to WVU began to be listed as a "soft verbal'' though Jenkins himself has never said he intended to back out of it.

His comments that he intended to visit other schools prior to signing a binding letter of intent fueled rumors -- and fears among Mountaineer fans -- that he would ultimately choose to play his home games somewhere other than in Morgantown.

An official visit to Ohio State made by Jenkins last Saturday only adds fuel to those suspicions.

"He made his visit to Ohio State last weekend and had just a fantastic time," Parkersburg High assistant coach Mark McCullough said Tuesday. "I'd say right now it's between West Virginia and Ohio State."

I am not trying to be a jerk, and I know I am not a moderator, but this forum is more about info on prospective recruits and discussion about their abilities on the field....not speculation and conjecture on where they might end up.

Are you serious? You know this is a "football recruiting" forum right? Besides, wouldn't an opinion about a players ability on the field not fall into the speculation category? I speculate that you want us to speculate on the same speculation you speculate on and find frustration with your speculation when it doesn't co-speculate with the current speculation... If I'm speculating correctly.

That being said I have a cousin from West Virginia who lives next door to Josh's Aunt and she says he's going to Boise State.

Enough is enough...grad and I have discussed it and we are going to be handing out warnings like they are SEC head coaching jobs if this stuff doesn't stop. dozerbuck is right...this thread and the Pryor thread have been borderline insufferable lately. It's one thing to speculate about where he ends up...it's another thing to have to sift through hundreds "I hope we land Jenkins"-type posts. We get it...we all hope OSU lands Jenkins. I think that point has been made roughly 1,374,920 times...
