^^^--- Its still free access for the rest of today.
Claims five still in the hunt: PSU, Stanford, UM, ND, and OSU (somebody goofed - Bucknuts said its down to four, hinted that its really two).
Mentions teammate Zorich, family's connection to Tressel, Stoneburner and Brewster calling him up, and possibility of playing with brother Kyle.
Not really, or he would have transferred to a different high school. They've competed against each other for years, I can't imagine them being unable to handle one more competition.4. Kyle McCarthy
the mccarthy seems like a tight-nit family. maybe, JUST maybe, dan have thought about the potential competition he is going to face with his brother for a favorable spot on nd's safety depth chart. some may argue that the competition between siblings will be more healthier while pressing both of them to work harder. but you can't argue that there might be some negative factors that may prevent DM to want to compete with his brother for the same position. for example, the losing one's feeling WILL be hurt. it may (or may not) affect their relationship. IF they are playing on the opposite side on the team (one offense, one defense) then the possibility for them to play together would be higher IMO; but since they are both playing on the defense and both are projected as safety, the potential risk in dan and kyle's relationship HAS to equate into the decision making.
Why doesn't every player commit instantly then? There are plenty of kids in Scarlet & Gray who knew where they were going long before they announced it to the press. There are many reasons... taking visits, telling the coach in person, enjoying the attention, etc... for a multitude of personalities.gcmsc;876830; said:If this kid loves ND, then what is the holdup? Why would he not immediately commit. DM is not the type to play games or string people along, nor would his parents want him to do that.
That's a pretty broad & cynical brush. BTW, if these individuals are out to make a splash for themselves (and not passing along info like they've done for years), is it very smart to echo the same McCarthy to ND rumor as everyone else? Wouldn't it be better to take a chance on calling him to OSU, so they can be the only one with the scoop?Rumors, rumors and more rumors. Everyone wants to claim fame to the "I told you so" take.
