Things are not going well? = The kid is not doing what I want him to do.

Hey coach, get a life. It's not about you.

Good luck to RoJo, where ever HE might pick to go to school.

This post sums it up well. Reminds me of Jamil Tucker's situation. You can give him some advice but if he decides not to take it, what else can you do?

I can't believe what I'm reading...

Hey guys, this is my first post on this board. Just wanted to say Hello, and that I got directed to this board by a link on a Michigan board. Yes, I'm a Michigan fan. Quite nervous as well as this is my first post. Guess I'm going to throw myself to the wolves right about now.

Anyways, please don't bash his HS coach Tony Annese. Tony has been there for this kid and has done alot for him. He wishes nothing but the best for the kid. Lots of trash is floating out there on the internet, alot of rumors going around. One thing that I do know that is a fact though, and that is Annese tries to get as many of his kids to college as he can. He doesn't care where they go and he has relationships with every head college coach in the state, not just Michigan. I cannot imagine the guy would steer Ronald in any direction. He has only Ronald's best interest in mind. He has been a father figure in his life and would do just about anything for the kid.

Ronald is a great kid who is stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. IMO if it was completely upto him he most likely would've already been committed to the Wolverines months ago.

Not throwing yourself to the wolves at all. Excellent first post. That's the whole problem with the internet age and recruiting as a whole. Before all of this, most of us just knew recruiting through the preseason magazines. Now we follow it step by step and many lose sight that these are 18 year old kids dealing with their entire future. This is definately one of the best sites to follow through. The moderators here do an excellent job of keeping everyone in line and with keeping things in perspective. I think a majority of us here want the kids to do what they think is best for them. Just check out the Barksdale and Martin threads for an example.

Welcome, and I hope you decide to stick around.:osu:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I must say I'm VERY impressed with this site. VERY cool.

Back to the Ronald Johnson saga. Honestly, I think what Tony was quoted as saying, he just said out of frustration. He was completely blindsided and just completely cut off from the process. I've heard that his mother wouldn't talk to him or let Ronald speak with him. I know that had to really hurt Tony, because like most HS coaches, he does care a great deal for all of his kids. If he didn't he wouldn't be coaching HS football, because he definetly doesn't do it for the money, well....because their is none.

Really I just hope the kid is allowed to follow his heart. I know that if his hand is forced he's going to have baggage for awhile and feel uncomfortable and likely feel resenment towards those that forced his hand.

Just think the kid should go where he wants to go. Even if it's Ohio State.

Only way he'll truly be happy. He's got to live with the decision for the next 4-5 years of his life, not anybody else.

I think people are a little too quick to bash this HS coach. Face it, we know less than 1% of what is going on. There is no way you can claim to have an informed opinion about anyone's actions.

I think there can be circumstances where a HS coach becomes very concerned that a "family friend" is involved.

Maybe, but not sure how you would expect a different reaction when the 1% I read in the paper in "quotes", and is that type of a comment.

I do empathise when a coach puts in 4 years and then outside influences undue what he has done. It would be tough to hold my mouth.

Folanator, I honestly do not think Tony would try to steer Ronald away from a school and hide things from his mother. That's just not his MO. Ronald took 5 visits, talked to plenty of college coaches on the phone, and got plenty of letters.

I think I know where the hiding information thing came from, and let's just say I'm not surprised. Some people will really say anything to a kid and his mother to land him.
