'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

This reminds me of the year we lost Anotonio Hall and Anthony Munoz.

There are so many good lineman in Ohio that are just dying on an offer from the bucks.

Anyways I am going to hold out hope till the 6th and if he goes to Va Tech good luck to him, and we will be just fine.

You meant Michael Munoz right - who joined the Vols not long after they had elevated their status with the NC.

I don't believe the Buckeyes ever had serious pretensions about recruiting his Hall-of-Fame father Anthony  (Who in truth attended USC specifically to stay close to his family).

Would the coaches already know his decision? That explains why the renewed interest in Joe Thomas and Lee Tilley. Tilley, Thomas, Palmer, Browning, Nagy. Plenty of replacement lineman for Brown. Most seem to think Alex Boone is the reason Brown won't be at Ohio State. Funny that our OL talent/depth is now going to cost us a top recruit.

article up from Dave Biddle. lots of dancing around comments by Mr. Brown. if you read between the lines though, sounds like one of the reasons Aaron won't be a Buckeye is because Mr. Brown seems put off by a lack of attention from Coach Bollman.

Question: Mr. Brown says that Aaron "loves the Buckeyes and always will". if this is the case and it's Aaron's decision, then wouldn't Aaron become a Buckeye? leads me to believe that this is not entirely Aaron's decision.

father knows best i guess. Good luck at VT

I haven't paid a whole lot attention to recruiting recently. Can someone that is more in-the-know characterize why this recruitment seems SOOOO strange from the outside. Please don't be harsh.

This is just my observation, and not a knock on anyone involved personally. It seems to me that often when you have a recruitment where a parent gets involved with the recruiting media that things become a bit of a circus.

Now, that's not to say that parents aren't heavily involved in the recruiting process or that they shouldn't be. It just seems that when dad (or mom) start doing interviews for Scout, Insiders and the like, that we always see a "confusing" recruiting situation.

To be fair, when the HS coach starts doing the same thing you also tend to see a muddy infomation flow about that recruit.

I think it's more or less a function of too many voices. Recruitments where a kid simply answers a few questions after each official ("My visit to Alabama Polytech was a 10 out of 10...I can really see myself fitting into their system") and lists his current favorites, then names an annoucement date, are a whole lot "cleaner" processes.

You can't blame the $$$ web whores for wanting to pay their server bills and mortgages, but they benefit a lot from stirring up crap.

Interesting thing is that Aaron and the Princeton Vikings play Colerain this Friday night. Princeton, as a team, does not approach Colerain's level, but maybe we'll get some more input into where Brown is this year compared to last year in facing a defensive foe like Colerain.

I have never seen Brown play, so I can't comment on him, but I think a big part of evaluating where he is at would be for someone like H&G or Madville to comment on how he plays this year versus last. If there really isn't much progress (even with the Byrds being gone), what can we say?

Of course, we could just say good luck in Virginia with Crum from Dublin. What's up with Beamer taking our linemen?:)

So what went so bad on the visit during the Texas game.
I know they showed up late and we had tried to reschedule but I don't know what the big problem was.
The coaches couldn't spend enough time with him?
Please know your facts and re-read the article. I do believe Brown had a game that same day in <st1:city><st1 ="">Cleveland </st1></st1:city>and the articles never said that AARON didn't like the visit nor did HE say he wasn't getting enough attention. When reading the articles do you ever read any quotes directly from Aaron, himself. NO!<o =""></o>

You seem to hit the nail on the head. Why is it that you are the only one that can read between the lines?

Not be be negative, but it honestly seems like its Mr. Browns decision, not Aarons...
The lack of attention remarks dont make me miss this kid at all if he goes to Va Tech, maybe it will be a better fit over there, I still want what is best for the kid but hopefully his dad lets him have more of a say...

Sheeba what is your take on the whole situation? Are you pleased with Aaron's decision to attend Va tech. I can't imagine going through this process as a young man, or as a parent. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
edit; Do you think if it were entirely up to Aaron he would be a Buckeye?

If Mr. and Mrs. Brown are encouraging Aaron to go someplace other than OSU, it seems like they are doing so with Aaron's best interests in mind. I don't really think it is fair to take internet statements and use them to judge the motivations of his parents when there are numerous other facets of which we are not even aware. Wherever he may end up, he has my best wishes.
