'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

anyone who has followed this saga realizes that Mr. Brown has been in control the whole time. he doesn't even let the coaches talk to Aaron for pete's sake. i think you have to let the kid make a decision.

I agree. He should try to help him out but it is not his decision. He won't put on the pads and go to that university for 4-5 years. However I am at the point that if they decide to go elsewhere I might just think it is for the best.

If Mr. and Mrs. Brown are encouraging Aaron to go someplace other than OSU, it seems like they are doing so with Aaron's best interests in mind. I don't really think it is fair to take internet statements and use them to judge the motivations of his parents when there are numerous other facets of which we are not even aware. Wherever he may end up, he has my best wishes.

As with all such things in life it is somewhat of a fine line, though on occasion a clear line ....
First the clear lines ---
For all we know Mr. Brown may quite simply wish to spare his son the pressure of this first brush with media attention beyond a by-line in the Prep round-up of the Enquirer.

For all we know Mr. Brown may want to make quite certain that the situation presented his son is absolutely the most positive and propitious.

What we do not know (well I assume you, and beyond a shadow of a doubt me) is that Mr. Brown's intentions are to "market" or "shop" his son's talents.

Now the fine lines ---
Mr. Brown has stated that Aaron has always been a Buckeye at heart, yet we now hear that he may prefer his son go elsewhere. This means the fella who will actually be going to college is not himself the sole, perhaps not even the primary decision maker. Fine line.

If Aaron truly loves and will always be a buckeye, then I fail to see how his parents forcing him somewhere else could ever be in his best interest.
Disclaimer, I am not saying they did in fact force him to do anything, purely hypothetical statement.

Aaron's parents would prefer Aaron stay in Ohio. Indirectly, there would be many benefits logistically and such if Aaron stayed closer to home. There are many positives about the OSU situation. There are positives about other school situations. The final decision IS Aarons. It may be hard to believe since you don't speak to him or hear from him much personally, but it is true.

I guess my main concern is the fact that we, as internet messageboard followers, have no concrete idea whether or not we are getting an accurate or complete picture of a situation, but many of us are willing to make judgements based on the limited, (possibly inaccurate) information we read.

I do know, that if I were Mr. or Mrs. Brown (or Aaron himself), I would be somewhat disturbed by some of the comments made today by people who are not privy to the entire story regarding this young man's recruitment.

Speculation on the situation (at least in my eyes) is not a fair basis on which to make comments that may be taken by a recuit as insulting or demeaning in any manner. There are very few people who know every detail of Aaron's recruitment, and I know for a fact that I am not one of them, hence, I am going to refrain from casting any judgement on a young man and his family when they are faced with one of the most important decisions in his young life.

Best wishes to Aaron and his family in making this decision.

are you kidding? why should Mr. Brown let coaches talk to his son? that takes away from his face/interview time.

I belive the term is 'Gravy training'

Interesting thing is that Aaron and the Princeton Vikings play Colerain this Friday night. Princeton, as a team, does not approach Colerain's level, but maybe we'll get some more input into where Brown is this year compared to last year in facing a defensive foe like Colerain.

I have never seen Brown play, so I can't comment on him, but I think a big part of evaluating where he is at would be for someone like H&G or Madville to comment on how he plays this year versus last. If there really isn't much progress (even with the Byrds being gone), what can we say?

Of course, we could just say good luck in Virginia with Crum from Dublin. What's up with Beamer taking our linemen?:)

Hab,

that McNichalos game I talked about earlier in this thread was week one of this year...an amazing 7-0 victory for P-town over an unranked D3 school.

I'll be at the Colerain v. Princeton game this weekend and I'll give you my thoughts after the game.

H&G, "Honor" & "Glory" two noble terms. From the tone in your posts, apparently a misnomer. You could learn a little from the post that is quoted.

Well, if the recruit won't talk, then people will speculate.... Who's really at fault for the speculation?

As far as "casting judgment", we don't need to know every fact before being able to draw reasonable inferences from the known facts....

i guess it's just hard for us to believe madville. all we had heard about is how tOSU was his leader and how he loved the Bucks. then things pop up about not enough attention from the coaches and a conflict with Coach Bollman, and it's hard for us to believe that Mr. Brown isn't having an influence on the final decision. i guess we feel that if he really wants to be a Buckeye or loves the Buckeyes, then he would be one. otherwise it just seems that other factors are in play here.

This is why I've tried to stay out of this thread, post-VTech rumor shinanigans. I wish you and your family the best when coming down to a decision, Aaron. Please note though, you couldn't go wrong picking ANY of the four schools you've visited! :)
