'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

it may be retarded, but reasons to mislead:

1) Va Tech (or whichever school is the "real leader") is in on some other OL and want him to keep his decision quiet
2) He has an axe to grind with OSU and has no qualms about tying up a scholarship offer or scaring away another kid
3) He doesn't want any hometown/hometeam pressure or abuse
4) He is like Andre Mathis and gets his cookies by purposely misleading people
5) He might want to keep his decision a "secret" for as long as possible (and OSU may in fact be the leader)
6) He is drinking the same water that Jason Gwaltney was filling up on

Even if he verbals, remember that he is still only 18 and might change his mind a dozen times before February.

So true...he said Brown was headed to either Tennessee or Florida. Neither are getting official visits. How much more wrong could he be?

Maybe thats the real "smokescreen", he is going to pick a school that isnt even on his offical visit list. :roll2:

I think the smokescreen is that George Brown wants to make sure tOSU is the right school for his son [upto this point, it sounds like it still is]. It can be difficult to really find that out if the Brown camp exclaimed that tOSU was the clear school of choice. The other schools might either drop their overall interest & not really try to show their school to the Brown camp OR try to blow smoke up their asses in an effort to catch their attention. Either way, its not a true representation of what the other schools have to offer.

I think George Brown is just trying to keep the recruiting experience for his son as real, logical and fun as possible.

He could have picked a few better games down the stretch, but I still think this is an enjoyable way to spend the early fall before deciding. Oh, and one thing seems clear, that secret school that Brown likes is clearly Georgia Tech! :nerd:

Recruiting started fast and furious for offensive lineman Aaron Brown of Cincinnati (Oh.) Princeton. Brown's early offer list rivaled that of any of the country, and since then, colleges just kept coming forward with offers. Now, however, the time has come for Brown to focus on the final list of candidates from which he will choose his college.

The recruiting process has been a hectic one for offensive lineman Aaron Brown, as he has had five dozen colleges extend a scholarship offer his way. Aaron and his father George have decided that the time has come to focus on the final contenders.

"It was time to narrow things down and get focused on making a decision," George Brown said. "All the schools on the list are now at ground zero. They are all
starting over. It is time for the five coaching staffs to make an impression on Aaron."

George Brown is leaving that final choice entirely up to Aaron.

"He is about to make the first real adult decision of his life," George Brown said. "It will be his decision and his decision only. It doesn't matter where I want him to go.

"We talked over his final list of five, but now it is on him. He is going to spend at least three years and maybe as many as five years of his life wherever he decides to go, so the choice must be his."

In the meantime, Aaron has been working out hard.

"Aaron is working out five times a week come rain or shine," George Brown said. "He is squatting over 500 lbs for one rep and he is benching 225 for 13 reps. We are working on hand fighting techniques.

"He was checked just yesterday and weighed in at 292 and was 6-6 1/4 in his stocking feet. It now all about preparation. He is going to be more ready and in better shape than at any time in his life. One thing Aaron is determined to do is not be outworked."

Aaron Brown is scheduled to take an official visit to Ohio State during the weekend of Sept. 10. He plans on visiting Auburn on 9/3, Louisville on 9/17, Virginia Tech on 9/24, and Miami (Fla.) on 10/1. Purdue is also reportedly still under consideration. All six schools have offered scholarships.

How often does a kid verbal to an OOS school without taking an official visit there? I think Aaron is going to love the Shoe on 9/10, especially hanging out with AJ Wallace, Robert Rose, Ray Small, etc.

I think you are right...I think Aaron and his father know that OSU is a wonderful choice for Aaron and they just want to be 100% sure.

I am in contact with a coach who is with him every day in the weight room and that would be news to him. Not saying it isn't possible, but I doubt it.

Why is everyone so in love with this statement. In my book he is going to either make one of two choices

1 - Right one...Bucks

2 - Wrong one... and I could care less what team it is.

Would I love to have A Brown come on board...absolutely but we will be okay if he does not. We have Smith and a lot of depth and will turn our attention to Nagy, Browning or Palmer. OLine is the one position that I look at rankings the least. It just seems like OLine rankings hold true the least of any position. So it is August and if Brown picks UT, UF, or any Southern school then good luck to him...

Hey have you seen Lemmings top 100 on College Football News

Aaron Brown is rated #51 nationally

Justin Bor is rated #66 nationally
There the only two OL listed in Ohio and these two guys are in every top 100 listed in the country along with Chris Wells no doubt all three are five stars followed closely by Conner Smith

While I'm sure that this is far from over, the latest word is that South of our border is looking favorable. Of course, that will not be the official word on the Internet, but that is from a very credible source.

We need Aaron to join Connor and Jake Ballard on our line of the future. Competition will be found everywhere, but at Ohio State, Aaron will rise to the top, both on the O-line and professionally after his football career is over.

Agreed, the last update I heard was that OSU was still on top with VTech taking over second. Awhile back UofL was making a nice push but I havent seen them near the top.

This one certainly will be a headscratcher all the way to announcement day.

After entertaining too many scholarship offers to no longer count, Princeton's Aaron Brown thinks he has finally narrowed his list down to five or six schools at this time. He'll try to make an official visit to all of them, including a stop at the Ohio State-Texas game, before he announces his decision on or around Oct. 8. Brown claims to have no solid favorite at this time but his final decision is likely to come down to a choice between OSU and Virginia Tech.
