'06 MD CB A.J. Wallace (Penn State signee)

You have to admit that A. J. has this recruiting thing down. He is very good at keeping us guessing. I swear some of these recruits must have recruiting coaches or something to be this good. They always seem to know exactly what to say. Or maybe A.J. got some tips from his Glenville buddies.

J.B. Walton scares me too a little bit, but it is nice that tOSU has always been a leader while other schools (Nebraska, FSU) have come and gone.

Package deals hardly ever work. In the end it is where the kids feel most comfortable, and I think AJ realizes how well we develop corners, and he really seems to like Tressel.

Also if we could pull Bowman that could help seeing as he is from Maryland also.

Rivals $

12/8/05

From BSB...AJ talks about his in-home visit with JT, which happened to be on Monday...JT's birthday. AJ reiterates that OSU is looking at him for both offense and defense. He also reiterates that OSU and PSU are out in front.

Great read...this is going to come down to OSU and PSU and maybe if we get Bowman today, that will help sway Wallace.

Hopefully he will hang out with the Glenville crew long enough in SA to decide to come to Columbus, but I bet he's PSU's to lose right now. Penn State is the hot team this year, but after a .500 season next year, the "Joe Pa needs to retire" fans will be back out in full force and they will resume their rightful spot as a mid-tier Big 10 team.

 should be banned from any NB or GH prediction!

Penn State is the flavor of the year...
Just like ol' Iowa last year, and look at their recruiting this year.

In comparison, Iowa's 2005 class: 3-5* / 7-4* / 8-3* / 5-2* / and an unsigned 1*
Iowa's 2006 class currently looks like this: 2-4* / 2-3* / 7-2*

Now of course stars don't mean a thing, but when you go from landing 3-5* in one class with an arsenal of 3 and 4*'s to go along with them, to having no 5*, 2-4*, and helluva of 2*, somethings up. That something is their time passing, just like Penn States will this next season.

It's quite ironic to see Iowa's recruiting do almost a complete 180, with going from 7-4* to 7-2*....

EDIT: I apologize for the thread-jacking, and to turn this back to AJ, I must say I feel really good about our chances with him, I've never waivered on our chances, just a gut feeling here, but I think we get him.

no one knows what's going to happen with wallace yet.

oh, and don't criticize nb or gh. they can't tell exactly what a young person is going to do. if you want to blame someone, blame yourself if you bought into it. why can't people just be patient and wait for these young men to make their decisions? everyone has these "i need to know now" attitudes.

Penn State might be hard to beat for this kid. Take a look at PSU assistant Larry Johnson's resume:

In his ninth season on the staff, Larry Johnson, is in his fifth year coaching the defensive line. He was instrumental in the development of 2002 first team All-Americans and first round NFL Draft choices Michael Haynes and Jimmy Kennedy. Johnson worked solely with the defensive ends and oversaw many of the special teams from 1996-99. His efforts with Courtney Brown helped him earn consensus All-America honors in 1999, setting three school sack and tackle for loss records. Brown went on to become the No. 1 selection in the 2000 NFL Draft. Johnson also has coached five first team All-Big Ten performers. Head coach at McDonough High School in Pomfret, Md., for 19 years, Johnson's teams posted a 139-36 ledger, capturing state championships in 1983, '85 and '90. In 1992-93, Johnson was head coach at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va. Johnson was a standout linebacker at Elizabeth City (N.C.) State University, earning NAIA All-America honors. After graduation, he played one season with the NFL's Washington Redskins. One son, Larry, became just the ninth player in NCAA history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season in 2002. Another son, Tony, was a senior wide receiver for the Nittany Lions last year.

The man definitely knows and can relate to people from that area of Maryland.

PSU could be this year's Iowa down in SA at the AA game. Iowa got many commits last year at this game and things are setting up for PSU to also.

On another note, I don't care how good their freshman were this year. They will not be very good next year. Probably a bowl team, but not a Big 10 title contender. They put ND on the schedule one year too late!
