'06 MD CB A.J. Wallace (Penn State signee)

I think Hill would be a great pickup, but I think he ends up at Miami. He has yet to visit there which makes me a little concerned. Even though he says we are neck and neck with Miami, I'm thinking it's more like 65%-35% in favor of the soldiers.

Man what happen to Wallace, I thought everything was looking good with him, what changed? I realize it's not over and recruits can be fickle, but I thought we were in the lead especially with Tressel handling his recruitment. Puzzling

When there are a lot of schools hot on your trail it is hard to just pick one. it think we still have a good shot, but the percentages arent as high as they once were.

personally anything above 50% for an OOS kid is very positive. it is also important just to get OOS kids up here to visit and keep a presence in an area. kids take notice when kids at nearby schools are being recruited by national powers. it can work wonders on your program. these top flight kids talk, and with the way things are today with combines, camps etc. they are in a lot of contact with each other. being in on a kid or just losing out often times looks like a loss but can lead to greener pastures.

I think we could have a great chance if he goes to San Antonio torn between a couple of schools. With the Glenville crew, Coach Ginn, Chris Wells, Connor Smith, and probably JO and Ted Ginn jr there, we could pull this one out.

great point. he was the kid that had a great time with the Glenville crew if im not mistaken. going down to SA with the commits we have and Coach Ginn could very easily sway his decision to OSU. hopefully, FSU getting killed by PSU also helps us in his decision

With Penn State losing almost their whole secondary, I can see them being a real contender. He just got back, so he likes them right now, i am sure he had a great time there. However, although Youboty looks like he could use another year, he may go too and Wallace would have a prime opportunity to start as a true Frosh like jenkins did. If not, we still have some solid DB's on the roster and still have guys like Ryan Hill that think very highly of us, plus Kurt Coleman coming in.

I would love to get Wallace in this class. I just can't say it enough. However, if he sees something in another school that prompts him to jump aboard wherever it may be, that is also OK. One kid will not make or break the Buckeyes, next season or even 3 years down the road. We are built for longevity and continuity, and we just keep rolling with the punches. Sure, we could benefit or suffer from one player's decision, but in the meantime, there are kids we were raving about that signed last year or the year before, that haven't even been given the chance to prove themselves. If A.J. goes elsewhere, good luck A.J., and hello opportunity for someone else. I would rather lose a kid without having to twist his arm to get him here and he wishes he was somewhere else than to get him and have him only halfway believing he was meant to be here. There is too much talent out there and too many kids that would absolutely run thru a brick wall to be a Buckeye, and sometimes it's hard to see that we can be better off with the latter. They say (for example, last night Raiders-Chargers) "Randy Moss at 85% is better than most WR's at 100%." May be one guy's opinion, but I feel that it relates even though health and effort are 2 different things. If a guy busts his balls to see the field for the Buckeyes, but is only 85% as good as the first guy, we just may be better off. There are players still to be had at that position, we just don't know who yet.
