Does Michigan Have Jamar Hornsby's Number?
By Don Hoekwater Columnist/Photographer
Date: May 11, 2005

Jamar Hornsby of Sandlewood High School in Jacksonville has maintained a top three for some time that includes Michigan. The talented athlete recently received a visit from three Wolverine coaches. He spoke with GoBlueWolverine.com about the visit, and said a very special piece of Michigan football history was tops during the conversation.

Jamar says his top three schools are Michigan, USC and Florida. He does not have a leader. Carr has told him he can come in and wear jersey #1 :roll2:

I Mario plays WR and Jamar plays DB, they can wear the same number. But you know, Braylon Edwards talked about how proud he was to have earned the #1 jersey. These kids haven't done anything yet and their being promised the numbers to commit. It's kinda sad.

Noles Offer State of Florida's Top Propsect

Wednesday, Florida State offered a player considered by many to be the top athlete and prospect in the state of Florida. However, it might be a little too late for the Noles.

Jamar is concerned with playing time the most and Pete Carrol will be visiting him today.

I think Nate Salley, Mike Doss, Donte Whitner's very early career starts could help us out in this regard. Plus it is widely thought that the fellow Floridian Salley has a good shot at a great year and making at least 2nd team AA.

IMO it would be extremely unfortunate if this kid didn't give us a serious look. Our DB production over the last decade is second to none and the sad thing is I'm sure someone (probably more than one) has already informed him of this.

Perhaps if Mo Wells makes a big splash, he can convince Jamar to come watch him play and rack up some yards in the 'Shoe. Who knows?

I think it is early though to say we're out of it because we're not currently in his top 5. If scUM's DBs look like absolute trash through the season and another of his top 5 teams just folds, who knows what could happen. You never know what these kids want...they change their minds all the time. PT could be a big opportunity in the DBackfield next year as well. Youboty could go early, Salley is gone and the other corner spot is currently a toss up. Although JO is going to come in and most likely start at one of those spots by his sophomore year for sure.

Agreed. Especially with our recognition and willingness to let players play both ways. Who was the last player that scUM allowed to play both ways - Woodson? That sure is a recent track record. I sure don't get the national love for scUM but it obviously exists. Maybe he doesnt like the depth chart here for WR - what is scUM's depth chart like at WR after Breaston and Avant besides Manningham?

I understand the recent infatuation with USC but scUM and Georgia?? I see those 2 teams on more kids list than anyone else, Georgia has replaced the U as 1 of everyone's top player
